Fort Wainwright is located in the picturesque state of Alaska, with majestic snow-capped mountains, lakes, rivers, glaciers and abundant wildlife. The post is situated within easy access to downtown Fairbanks and the surrounding communities of North Pole and Eielson Air Force Base. Home to the Athabascan people for thousands of years and more recently settled as a gold rush boomtown, the Fairbanks area is a close-knit community of inviting, diverse residents living in the “Golden Heart of Alaska.”
