Chief Master Sergeant John Marquez Jr.
Chief Master Sergeant John Marquez Jr. is the superintendent, 627th Air Base Group and serves as the senior enlisted adviser to the commander of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. As superintendent, Chief Marquez mentors and supports more than 700 group Airmen. Additionally, as the principal Air Force senior enlisted adviser to the JBLM commander, he provides integrated Army/Air Force senior staff advice on matters of health, welfare, morale, professional development and the effective utilization of five Army-led directorates, five Air Force squadrons, 32 staff agencies and more than 800 uniformed personnel and 2,700 Department of Army and Air Force civilians, who deliver a full range of mission support for the joint base, the Indo-Pacific region and other global operations. His leadership throughout the installation impacts more than 243,000 Total Force service members, family members, and retirees supported by JBLM.
Chief Marquez was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, and entered the Air Force in April of 1998. His diverse background includes leadership positions in more than six, distinct Air Force Specialty Codes. He began his career as a Security Forces specialist, then retrained as an Information manager and later merged into the Cyberspace Support career field. Chief Marquez also served in a several special-duty positions, such as an Airman Leadership School and a Noncommissioned Office Academy flight instructor, director of education, and ALS commandant. He has an abundance of joint-service experience and has deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. He was assigned as the senior enlisted leader, Office of Military Cooperation U.S. Embassy in Muscat, Oman, in support of U.S. Central Command. Chief Marquez also served as a defense courier, ensuring the secure, timely, and efficient movement of national security material to more than 3,100 global customers for U.S. Transportation Command. Chief Marquez is married with two daughters.
