Command Sgt. Maj. Shane E. Pospisil
Command Sergeant Major Shane E. Pospisil was born in Middletown, New York, he grew up in Bolton, Connecticut, and entered the Army Oct. 29, 1991. He completed Basic Training and AIT at Fort Jackson SC.
CSM Pospisil attended the Airborne course and the Ranger Indoctrination Program and was assigned to the 75th Ranger Regiment at Ft. Benning, Georgia. He has served in a variety of positions, including Fire Team Leader, Rifle Squad Leader, Long Range Surveillance Team Leader, Bde Assistant Air NCO, Ranger Instructor/writer, Rifle Platoon Sergeant, LNO to JSOC, Company and BN Tactical NCO, Rifle Company and HHC Company First Sergeant, Squadron Command Sergeant Major, 2nd Cavalry Regiment Command Sergeant Major, United States Military Training Mission, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia CSM and the First Cavalry Division CSM.
CSM Pospisil participated in Operation Restore Democracy in the Republic of Haiti, Operation Restore Hope in the Republic of Panama and Operation Atlantic Resolve in Europe. He has been deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. His military education includes all noncommissioned officer education system courses to include the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy and the Executive Leader course, the Keystone course and NSP 1. His civilian education includes a Bachelor of Science degree in administrative management from Excelsior College, Albany New York.
His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit w(2OLC), Bronze Star Medal w(1OLC), Meritorious Service Medal w(4OLC), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal w(2OLC), Army Achievement Medal w(5OLC), Good Conduct Medal (9th Award), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal w(One Bronze Star), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon with numeral 5, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon with numeral 6, Multinational Force and Observers Medal, NATO Medal. He earned the Ranger Tab, Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Master Parachutist Badge as well as the Canadian, British and Thailand Parachute wings.
CSM Pospisil earned the U.S. Cavalry’s Silver and Gold spurs. He has been inducted into the Order of Saint Maurice (Centurion), Order of Saint George (Bronze), received the Draper Armor Leadership Award and is a member of the Sergeant Morales and Audie Murphy club.
CSM Pospisil is married to Teri Pospisil and they have two children.
