JBLM continues to increase protection measures on base to keep service members, families, civilian employees and others safe as the COVID-19 virus spreads.

The following is a list of closures, postponements, cancellations and reopenings on base, as well as on/off-base school closures related to the COVID-19 outbreak in Washington state. This page is updated often with new information, as it becomes available. 

Adventures Unlimited: Adventures Unlimited, on McChord Field, opened June 15. The indoor rock wall will remain closed until Pierce County goes to Phase 3. Reservations will be required to allow for adequate cleaning and sanitation between use.

America's Credit Union: Lobby doors will be locked to minimize contact. Drive up windows are open during normal business hours, and ATMs are available for withdrawal and deposits.  If you still need assistance, knock on the lobby door and an employee will speak with you.

Auto centers: McChord Field Auto Skills Center is open for anyone with base access, based on availability of personnel. Call in advance to make an appointment, 253-982-7226.

Armed Forces Bank: Closed except for merchant deposits and change orders.  Certain client transactions may occur as well, but as an exception.

Lewis Main: Drive-up teller windows are open 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
Lewis North: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays
McChord Field: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays 

Barber Shops: Barbershops on JBLM are open for DOD ID cardholders.

Chaplain's Office: All JBLM chapel services, religious education events and auxiliary meetings are canceled until further notice. Religious support Family Life Counseling Center is open for groups of 10 people or less. Participants will exercise social distancing, and will wear cloth face-coverings, or mask, when social distancing cannot be maintained. Starting June 22, outdoor religious services will begin but are limited to 100 people. For more information, click here

Child and Youth Services: In a limited capacity, all Child Development Centers (except for McChord Field), School Age Centers and Family Child Care homes is open in a limited capacity, McChord Field CDC opened May 26. In an effort to maintain the health and safety of children in care and CYS team members, safety protocols will continue. Suspended until further notice: Hillside Youth Center, Youth Sports, Washington state schools are closed through the rest of the 2019-20 school year. Raindrops and Rainbows and the Escape Zone will open June 22 with a limited 50% capacity. The Middle School Teen Program at Hillside Youth Center will open June 22. Capacity will be limited to 40 people on a first-come, first-served basis. Dental clinics: Dental Clinic No. 3, located at 2103 North Division Street on Lewis Main, is the only dental clinic open for services for JBLM active-duty service members. The clinic will continue to provide sick call, dental readiness category 3 (DRC3), AND DRC4 care. Operating hours are from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday, and from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday. After-hours emergency dental care remains available through the Madigan Emergency room. The McChord Field, Madigan, Dental Clinic No. 2, Okubo, and Fulton Dental clinics are all closed.

Beginning July 6, dental care will resume at all six JBLM dental clinics at a limited capacity (including exams, sick call, DRC3 and most routine treatment). Cleanings have not resumed yet, with no forecasted date to begin.

DPW O&M : Customer Service Desk services only telephonically or through email/website; no walk-ins

DPW O&M : Shops are responding only to Priority 1, emergency, and Priority 2, urgent, Demand Maintenance Orders (DMOs) as resources allow. Priority 3, routine DMOs and routine Preventative Maintenance Orders (PMOs) are being deferred for now except on critical infrastructure. Project Work Orders DA 4283s are being accepted by email (usarmy.jblm.imcom.list.dpw-customer-service-requests@mail.mil) and processed. Dig permits are also being accepted by email. Earthworks: Closed until further notice and no longer disbursing or accepting material.

Education Centers: Education Centers are now open, but partner universities may be operating on different schedules. Call 253-967-7174 for more information.

  • The Army Testing Center at Stone Education Center is open. Occupancy is limited to enforce social distancing.

Exchange facilities and concessions: McChord Field businesses closed until further notice: Optical Shop, Optometry, Simply Perfect Nails, Flower Shop, Hair Studio, Best Eyebrows and Sushi Teriyaki.

Lewis Main businesses closed until further notice:  Optical Shop, Madigan Optical Shop, Optometry, Sushi Teriyaki, Lock and Leave, Hair Studio, Flower Shop, Madigan Flower Shop and Best Eyebrows.  QDOBA open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.  weekdays, and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekends. Auntie Anne’s open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

1st Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division Subway closed until further notice; Lewis North Arby’s 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays; Madigan Einstein’s 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. starting March 23; Madigan Subway 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Fishing:  If you have your own gear and fishing license, you may fish on JBLM. People who are fishing should observe social distancing and state regulations.

Food service:  

AMERICAN LAKE CONFERENCE CENTER: closed
BATTLE BEAN COFFEE, in the Customer Service Mall, is open weekdays from 7 to 11 a.m.
BATTLE BEAN/BOOKSTORE, in the Stone Education Center, is open from noon to 7:30 p.m. weekdays.
BOWL ARENA LANES food service: Open weekdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for take-out and offering limited dine-in seating. Call in orders to 253-967-4661.
BURGER KING, on Lewis Main, is open with limited inside seating.
BURGER KING, on McChord Field, is open for drive-thru only.
HABANERO MEXICAN GRILL: Open for take-out orders  and offering limited dine-in seating daily from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
MCCHORD CLUB (events side): closed 
SAM ADAMS BREWHOUSE AT CASCADE: closed
SAM ADAMS AT EAGLE’S PRIDE GOLF COURSE is open for take-out orders and offering limited dine-in seating weekdays, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and weekends, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
SOUNDERS LANES food service: closed.
WARRIOR ZONE CAFÉ food and beverage operations only. Limited outdoor and indoor seating will be available. The computers and gaming consoles remain closed at this time.

GO Lewis-McChord Transit Shuttle: Not operating until further notice. 

Golf courses: Eagles Pride and Whispering Firs Golf Courses are open. No golf cart or other equipment rental available. Golfers must walk, and limit group sizes. The driving ranges remain closed until further notice. The number of golfers allowed in the pro shops will be limited to four. Food options available as take out.

Hawk Transition Center: All classes have been suspended, and the counselors will be conducting telephonic counseling appointments. For SFL/TAP new enrollment, call 1-800-325-4715, or visit www.sfl-tap.army.mil, to request virtual access. Once virtual access is granted, notify the Hawk Transition Center at 253-967-3258.

Harborstone Credit Union: Drive-up window is available 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Service is available inside lobby by appointment only from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Housing Services Office: Open by appointment only from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday to Wednesday. Closed Thursday and Friday. For appointments, call 253-967-3581.

ID Cards/DEERS enrollement: The ID Card Center in Waller Hall is open and will not close; the ID Card facility on McChord Field is open for only active-duty, reserve and guard service members. All others needing ID support on McChord Field are welcome at Waller Hall. For more info, click here.

Leisure Travel Services:  Leisure Travel Services on Lewis Main, inside the bowling center, is open weekdays. Please remember that locations and refund policies vary and customers should understand the risk they are accepting by choosing to purchase tickets.

Lewis Army Museum: Closed until further notice.  Click ⚠ here to experience the museum online. 

Lewis-McChord Communities: All community centers are closed. Playgrounds are open; play at your own risk. For more information, click ⚠ here

Libraries: JBLM Libraries are open at 50% capacity. No computers are available at this time. For more info, click here

Motorcycle Safety Classes: Open as of May 4. Physical distancing/separation in classrooms and PPE must be worn by all participants on the riding range. Coordinate with your chain of command to schedule.

Outdoor Recreation: Most ODR locations and programs are closed. The online reservation system for campground, cabins and equipment rental is shut down for two weeks. At this time, there is no guidance to have current guests at the cabins and campground leave.

  • American Lake -- While swim beaches are open,  follow physical distancing guidelines. Please note, there are no lifeguards on duty; swim at your own risk. Please be safe and pack out what you bring in to keep the areas open and sanitary.
  • Cabin rentals -- Cabin rentals will be available June 20. Call 253-967-7744.
  • Off-Road Vehicle Park -- Open. No rental equipment available, and please limit group sizes.
  • Range 15 (Rifle and Pistol) -- Open. No rentals and only personal gear and equipment will be used. Please limit group sizes.
  • Russell Landing Marina -- Is open to no more than five customers at a time on Wednesdays-Sundays for mooring, fishing licenses. Equipment rentals will be available at Russell Landing Marina on American Lake June 20.
  • Shotgun Shooting Complex (Skeet, Trap, Shotgun, Archery) -- Open. No rentals and only personal gear and equipment will be used. Please limit group sizes.
  • Solo Point -- Open. Patrons should continue to observe social distancing.


Recreational Vehicle Storage Lot: Reorganization will continue.

Recycling Centers: All JBLM Recycling Centers are closed until further notice. Regularly-scheduled recycling service will continue on JBLM for units, organization, and housing residents. For more information, call LeMay: 253-875-5886. Housing residents should contact Lewis-McChord Communities. 

Due to COVID 19, the local refuse and recycling services are constantly changing. Please call ahead for hours and eligibility. Visit the Recycling and Refuse page for a short list of transfer stations that take recyclables, refuse, large items and household hazardous waste.

School Reopening Trackers: School Support Services is maintaining a tracker showing the current status of each school district in the JBLM area. To view the latest information, click here. Please visit the district/school website listed on the tracker for additional information.

Sports, Fitness & Aquatics: All fitness centers are open to 50% capacity to all service members – including Reserve and National Guard members – from 5:30 to 9:30 a.m. and 4 to 8 p.m. weekdays. They will be closed for weekends, holidays and DONSAs. The McChord Gym will remain open on DONSAs from noon to 7:30 p.m., but they will be closed on Air Force Family Days. Please bring your own hand sanitizer and help keep the facility clean. 

  • We plan to open the gyms to family members and military retirees when Pierce County moves into Phase 3.
  • Indoor pools are open for unit training only. They will not be facilitating lessons or lap swim at this time. While swim areas are open, we highly encourage all users to follow social distancing guidance and to pack out what they brought in order to keep the areas open and sanitary. 
  • Splash pads as well as the outdoor pool on McChord Field are open.
  • Swim lessons will resume July 11 for previously enrolled families. Family and MWR Sports, Fitness & Aquatics will contact families with details.
  • The summer youth sports schedule has been cancelled. CYS Sports is returning with individual sports clinics. Details and enrollment at www.JBLMcysRegistration.com.
     

Theaters on JBLM: All theaters on JBLM are closed. 

Training Area Access: The JBLM Range Support Branch is not taking or processing new applications for access to JBLM training areas. Currently, people who already have an approved Area Access Pass will be granted access to cleared training areas if they follow proper procedures by calling into the Range Support Branch and identifying they will be in the approved area. All others are prohibited.

Trash & Recycling Pick-Up: Bulk pick up is suspended in housing, until further notice. Regularly scheduled trash and recycling pick-up will continue.

Thrift shops: The  McChord and  Lewis Main Thrift Shops are open for donations. They will open for business, but not consignments, starting June 16 on Tuesdays and Thursdays only.

Virtual Trivia Thursdays: Virtual Trivia Thursdays is extended through July 9. Visit the JBLM MWR Facebook page for details.

Warrior Restaurants: All Warrior Restaurants will allow for inside seating, but seating is limited to 50% capacity and no more than five people seated per table. There is no change for to-go meals and outdoor seating.
