Command Sergeant Major Erika S. Rhine-Russell

A native of Brent, Alabama, CSM Rhine-Russell enlisted in the Army in June 1997 and attended Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training as a 75B, Personnel Administration Specialist, at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.  CSM Rhine-Russell’s previous assignments include serving as the Strength Management Specialist in Headquarters and Headquarters Company of 93rd Signal Brigade, Fort Gordon, Georgia from 1997- July 2000.  She served as the Personnel Services Sergeant in the 19th Military Police Detachment (Criminal Investigation Command) in Yongsan, Korea from 2000-2001.  In 2001-2004, she served as a Promotions Sergeant and Personnel Services Noncommissioned Officer in the 103rd Military Intelligence Battalion, Fort Stewart, Georgia.  From 2004-2006, she served as an Army Service School Instructor and as a Drill Sergeant and as a Senior Human Resources Sergeant from 2006-2010 while assigned at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.  Next, she served as a Senior Human Resources Sergeant and G1 Noncommissioned Officer in Charge for the Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, United States Army Alaska from 2010-2013.  While stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas, in the 1st Infantry Division from 2013-2015, she served as the Brigade Senior Human Resources Sergeant for Headquarters and Headquarters Company and the First Sergeant for Charlie Company, 101st Brigade Support Battalion.  From 2015-2016, she served as a Senior Professional Development Noncommissioned Officer with Army Human Resources Command at Fort Knox, Kentucky.  She served as the G1 Sergeant Major for the 19th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, Korea from 2017-2019 in Daegu, Korea.  Afterwards, she served as Battalion Command Sergeant Major of the Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas from 2020-2022.  She is now serving as the Garrison Command Sergeant Major at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

CSM Rhine-Russell served in two deployments.  In 2003, she deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 3rd Infantry Division and as the First Sergeant of Charlie Company, 101st Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Infantry Division from 2014-2015, supporting Operation Inherent Resolve.

CSM Rhine-Russell’s military and civilian education include all levels of the Noncommissioned Officer Education System, SHARP Course, Master Resilience Training, Army Instructor/Writer Course, and Drill Sergeant School.  She is a graduate of Class 67 of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy.  She has a Bachelor of Professional Studies in Business and Management and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Management from Excelsior College.            

CSM Rhine-Russell’s awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (4th award), Army Commendation Medal (7th Award), Army Achievement Medal (2nd Award), Good Conduct Medal (8th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 5), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Drill Sergeant Badge, and Drivers Badge.

CSM Rhine-Russell has a daughter, Chai, and a son, Chase.
