Villa Thiene is a 16th-century villa located in Quinto Vicentino. The current structure is the result of work by multiple architects, including Andrea Palladio. Like several other projects Palladio contributed to, it was commissioned by two brothers—Marcantonio and Adriano Thiene. Since 1996, the villa has been preserved as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site City of Vicenza and the Palladian Villas of Veneto.

La Befana

an old witch who comes to town on January 6th to offer candies to children
Epiphany, a national holiday in Italy celebrated on January 6th, marks the end of the Christmas season and commemorates the presentation of baby Jesus to the Three Wise Men. This day is also associated with the legend of “la Befana”, an old witch who flies on a broomstick. Legend says Befana refused to join the Wise Men on their journey, later regretting her decision. Unable to find baby Jesus, she instead leaves gifts for children, becoming a figure similar to Santa Claus. Italian children hang stockings for Befana on Epiphany Eve, hoping for treats.  She rewards well-behaved children with gifts and leaves "coal" (often sweet black candy) for those less well-behaved.
