Command Sgt. Maj. William D. Pouliot
Command Sgt. Maj. William D. Pouliot was raised in Copperopolis, California. He enlisted in the Army Jan. 11, 1995, and completed One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Georgia, as an infantryman. Pouliot has served in every enlisted leadership position from team leader through command sergeant major. Pouliot’s previous assignments include 3/502 IN (Fort Campbell, Kentucky), 1/27 IN (Schofield Barracks, Hawaii), 1/75 RGR (Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia), RSTB, 3/75 RGR, 75th Regimental Headquarters, and U.S. Army Garrison Fort Benning (Georgia). Pouliot served as the command sergeant major for 3rd Ranger Battalion and Fort Benning. His most recent assignment was as the sergeant major, Program Executive Office - Soldier out of Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
Pouliot completed all levels of the Noncommissioned Officer Education System including credit for the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy (Class 62) through the Joint Special Operations Forces Senior Enlisted Academy (JSOFSEA). He is also a graduate of the USSOCOM Summit Course. His additional schools include Airborne, Ranger, Jumpmaster, Pathfinder, Military Freefall, Air Assault, and Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape (S.E.R.E Level-C). Pouliot holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Military Leadership from Excelsior College and a Master of Science degree in Strategic Leadership from the University of Charleston.
Pouliot’s operational deployments include 4 OIF rotations in Iraq and 9 OEF/OFS rotations in Afghanistan. His awards and decorations include The Legion of Merit (2 OLC), Bronze Star Medal (3 OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (4 OLC), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (4 OLC), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal (8 OLC), the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Ranger Tab, Master Parachutist Badge, Military Freefall Badge, Air Assault Badge, Pathfinder Badge, and is a member of the Order of Saint Maurice.
Pouliot is married and has two children and two grandchildren.
