Religious Support Office

 The U.S. Army Chaplain Corps (CHC) is responsible to meet the Army’s religious, moral, and spiritual requirements. The Continental Congress established chaplains as an integral part of the Army of the United States on 29 July 1775. General Order No. 253, issued by the War Department, Washington, DC, dated 28 December 1909, established the position of an enlisted Soldier for the purpose of assisting the chaplain in the performance of their official duties.  A Unit Ministry Team (UMT) is comprised of a chaplain and a religious affairs specialist.  UMTs serve to fulfill their duties to “Nurture the Living, Care for the Wounded and Honor the Fallen.”
