Col. Edward H. Cho

Col. Edward H. Cho hails from Diamond Bar, California and earned his commission as a second lieutenant in 2000 through the San Diego State University ROTC program. He graduated from the University of California San Diego, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, he also holds a Master’s in Business Administration from Webster University, and a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College.

Upon completion of the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course, he was assigned as a Fire Support Officer, 2nd Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment at Camp Hovey, Korea; Platoon Leader, 2nd Battalion, 17th Field Artillery Regiment; Assistant S3, 25th Transportation Battalion.

After successful completion of the Officer Advanced Course in 2005, he was assigned as the Assistant S4 to Multi-National Security Transition Command-Iraq in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He returned to Korea and assumed command of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, CSCT#1. He then served as Battalion S4 of 8th Special Troops Battalion.

In 2010, he was assigned as a member of 4th Armored Brigade Combat Team, Fort Bliss, Texas, he deployed in support of Operation New Dawn and served as the Brigade Logistics Support Team Chief. Following completion of the Command and General Staff Officer Course in 2012, his follow-on assignment had him serve as Executive Officer/ Aide; United States Army Europe G4; Executive Officer, 21st Special Troops Battalion; and Mobility Transportation Integration Land Branch Chief, 21st Theater Sustainment Command.

In 2015, as part of United States Army Central G4, Shaw AFB, he deployed as G4 Chief Operations Officer FWD in Kuwait in support of Operation Inherent Resolve and later returned to serve as Chief of Ammunition Multi-National Logistics.

In 2019, he assumed command of the 8th Army Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, Camp Humphreys, Korea. Following Battalion Command he attended the Senior Service College in, Army War College in 2021. In his last assignment he reported to United States Forces Korea to complete his Joint tour as CJ45 Chief of Plans and Exercises.

His major awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Parachutist Badge, and is a recipient of the Saint Christopher’s Medal.

He is married and has two children.
