368TH TRAINING SQUADRON
"VIKINGS"
The 368th Training Squadron (368 TRS) was originally designated as a training detachment under the 366th Training Squadron and later the 364th Training Squadron, both located at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas. The 368th Training Squadron was officially activated on Oct. 17, 2018, and traces its heraldry to the 368th Bombardment Squadron, which served under the 8th Air Force in the European Theater of Operations during World War II. The 368th Training Squadron provides initial skills and advanced level training in the areas of Civil Engineer, Pavements & Equipment, Emergency Management, Engineering, and Logistics Readiness Ground Transportation. The 368 TRS produces approximately 1,400 mission-ready Airmen annually. Additionally, the 368 TRS supports initial entry training for Army, Navy, Marine Corps Engineers and Chemical Corps members through interservice (ITRO) partnerships on Fort Leonard Wood.

The scope of training includes: street sweeper operational checks/maintenance & operation, rapid airfield damage repair, contingency construction, revetments, small shelter system, drainage systems, soil fundamentals, and rigid (concrete)/flexible (asphalt) pavement installation & full/partial/crack repair.

All students attending this course in a TDY status must bring the following personal protective equipment: high-top safety toe boots, raingear, leather gloves, light duty coveralls, ear protection (earplugs or muffs), canteen or camelback, safety glasses and a safety helmet (white or yellow hardhat). The Pavements and Equipment Craftsman course provides special upgrade training to Air Force military and civilian personnel working in the pavements and construction equipment operator career field. This course is taught as an “in-resident” training course at the 3E2X1 schoolhouse assigned to the 368th Training Squadron located at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. The 1st-week of training provides knowledge training in soil fundamentals, pavement inspection, rigid pavement maintenance & repair, and flexible pavement maintenance & repair fundamentals. The 2nd-week of training provides hands-on performance for conducting soil fundamental tests, pavement inspections, rigid pavement maintenance & repair practical, and flexible pavement maintenance & repair practical.
Equipment Required
Students must bring personal protective equipment (PPE) to include high top safety-toed boots, rubber boots (concrete pours), hearing protection, leather & rubber gloves, and eye protection. The following equipment will be provided: Concrete Saw capable of making full-depth cut for concrete repairs on airfield pavement; Air Compressor; 30-lb and 60-lb Pneumatic Hammers (jack hammers); Compaction Equipment for large and small repairs (3-ton or larger for large areas); Finish Roller; Hand Tools (as necessary) for completion of rigid and flexible pavement repairs; Slump Cone for measuring slump of fresh concrete; Small Concrete Vibrator (spud vibrator); Portable Concrete Mixer; Compact Track Loader or suitable piece of equipment capable of removing debris and placing it into a pile; excavator/backhoe with impactor attachment.
