COL Grant S. Fawcett Deputy Commander - Support
COL Fawcett assumed duties as the Deputy Commander of Support for the 3d Infantry Division in July 2023. Prior to his arrival at Fort Stewart, he commanded the 2d Security Force Assistance Brigade at Fort Liberty, NC.
COL Fawcett was commissioned as an Armor Officer in 1996. His first assignment was the 1st Battalion, 8th U.S. Cavalry Regiment at Fort Hood, TX from 1997 to 2000 where he served as tank platoon leader, battalion S1, company executive officer, and battalion maintenance officer. In 1998 he deployed to Operation Joint Forge (OJF).
From 2001 to 2005 COL Fawcett was assigned to the 1st Armored Division in Germany where he served as brigade assistant operations officer, and then as the squadron S4 and HHT commander in the 1st Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment. As Commander of HHT, he deployed to Baghdad, Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). He then commanded the Landover Recruiting Company from 2005 to 2007 and was responsible for recruiting operations in southern Maryland and the District of Columbia.
COL Fawcett returned to Fort Hood in 2009, where he was a maneuver planner in the 1st Cavalry Division G5 in Baghdad for OIF 09-10, the squadron S3 in 4th Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment, and the brigade S3 for 2d Brigade. He deployed with the brigade to Operation New Dawn (OND) in 2011.
From 2012 to 2016, COL Fawcett served as branch chief for the Arabian Peninsula and the Levant in the Operations Plans Division for United States Central Command. From 2016 to 2018 he returned to Fort Hood as Commander of the 1st Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, during which the battalion deployed to Camp Humphries, Korea.
In 2019, COL Fawcett took command of the 3rd Brigade, 4th Infantry Division while forward deployed to Kuwait for Operation Spartan Shield (OSS). He then served as the executive officer to the Deputy Commanding General, U.S. Forces Command at Fort Liberty, NC before taking command of 2d SFAB.
COL Fawcett is a graduate of the Armor Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the Cavalry Leader’s Course, the Combined Arms and Services Staff School, the Advanced Military Studies Program, and the Advanced Strategic Leadership Studies Program.
