Colonel Michael Adams

COL Mike Adams graduated from Bridgewater State College in 1994 and was commissioned as an Armor officer as a Distinguished Military Graduate through the Boston University ROTC program.  He served as an M1IP Tank Platoon Leader and Battalion Scout Platoon Leader in 1-72 Armor Battalion at Camp Casey, Korea.  He then served as an M1A1 Tank Platoon Leader and Battalion Support Platoon Leader in 2-69 Armor Battalion at Fort Benning, Georgia.

 After graduating from the Field Artillery Officer Advanced Course in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, he was assigned to United States Army Europe/7th Army where he served as a Crisis Action Officer, Operations Division, ODCSOPs in Heidelberg, Germany.  He then served as a Tank Company Commander, deployed to Kosovo in support of KFOR 2A, and went on to command Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1-37 Armor Battalion in Friedberg, Germany.  From Germany he reported for duty at Fort Irwin, California as an Observer Controller on the Scorpion Team (BB#638) before assuming duties as the Chief of Plans, Operations Group at the National Training Center.

After earning a Master of Arts in Military Operational Art and Science at the Air Force Command and General Staff College, he was assigned as S3 for 6-8 Cavalry Squadron where he deployed in support of OIF 07-09.  Upon redeployment, he assumed duties as BCT XO, 4IBCT, 3rd Infantry Division.  He then reported for duty as Department Chair and Professor of Military Science at Siena College in Loudonville, New York.  He returned to the Republic of Korea and assumed command of 4-7 Cavalry Squadron at Camp Hovey.  Following command he was assigned as DCO, 1 ABCT, 2nd Infantry Division.  His next assignment was to the Army Staff where he served as a Contingency Operations Officer in the Army G-31 (DAMO-ODO).  After graduating the National War College with a Master of Science in National Security Strategy Studies, he assumed duties as Director of Operations (J-3), Joint Task Force North, Fort Bliss, Texas. 

 In June 2017 he returned to Fort Stewart to command the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division. The "Raider" Brigade deployed to Korea in February 2018 and successfully completed a nine-month tour as the rotational tank brigade supporting the 2nd Infantry Division on the Korean Peninsula. In June 2019 he completed his brigade command time and assumed duties as the division chief of staff.

His awards include the Bronze Star, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, five Meritorious Service Medals, two Army Commendation Medals, four Army Achievement Medals, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the NATO Medal, the Parachutist Badge and the Army Staff Identification Badge.
