
Colonel Ryan E. McCormack
Chief of Staff
Colonel Ryan E. McCormack is a native of Long Island, New York and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and Systems Engineering from the United States Military Academy in 1997. Upon graduation, he commissioned in the Field Artillery branch and attended the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
As a junior officer, Colonel McCormack served as a Fire Support Officer in 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment and several positions in 2nd Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Colonel McCormack later served as a Task Force Fire Support Officer and Battery Commander during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division. Later, he served as the commander, Headquarters Battery, 4th Infantry Division Artillery at Fort Hood, Texas.
As a field grade officer, Colonel McCormack was assigned to the United States Military Academy serving as the Aide-de-Camp to the Superintendent, then as a Battalion Executive Officer and Operations Officer and later as the Brigade Operations Officer in 17th Field Artillery Brigade at Joint Base Lewis McCord, Washington. More recently, he served as the commander for 2nd Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, and as a Joint Staff Officer, J3, Directorate for Regional Operations in the Pentagon. He commanded the 75th Field Artillery Brigade at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, prior to assuming his duties as the Chief of Staff, 3rd Infantry Division in July 2021.
Colonel McCormack deployed in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom, Spartan Shield and Inherent Resolve.
Colonel McCormack’s holds a master’s degree in Organizational Psychology and Leadership from Columbia University, a master’s degree in Strategic Defense Studies from King’s College London, and a master’s degree in National Security Strategy and Policy from the Army War College.
