Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield Automated Installation Entry III (AIE III)

AIE III Overview

Fort Stewart uses the Army’s Automated Installation Entry III (AIE III) at preinstalled AIE capable installation Access Control Points (ACP) to enhance security and expedite access to base. AIE III leverages technology that will increase security for Soldiers, Family members, DoD civilians, retirees, contract employees, and guests by verifying identity of the individual(s) and ensuring they meet Army approved access standards against FBI criminal and terrorist authoritative databases.

AIE III Registration

If a DoD cardholder’s identification fails to work at an AIE III access lane they need to proceed to the Visitor Control Center (VCC) for registration troubleshooting, located near Wooldridge Gate on Fort Stewart and Montgomery Gate on Hunter Army Airfield. The AIE III system has in lane registration capability for all DoD ID cards. This means when a DoD ID cardholder drives up and scans their card for the first time at a lane pedestal the initial registration process will take 5-10 seconds to validate their credential. Subsequent scans following the initial registration process will only take 1-3 seconds thereafter.

Visitor Control Center (VCC)

The non-DoD visitors AIE III registration process takes 2-5 minutes to complete to receive an access pass/card. The Fort Stewart (VCC) located at the West General Screven Hwy Access Control Point (ACP), Building 101, outside Wooldridge Gate, or Montgomery Gate located at Hunter Army Airfield on Montgomery Street in Savannah. Sponsored commercial vendor or contractor, must use gate 7C located off west 15th street at Building 4500 outside ACP 7 or Montgomery Gate. AIE III registration will be Mon-Sat, 0600-1800 at the VCC and 0500-1700 Monday –Saturday at the Truck commercial gate. Truck gate weekend registration hours are 0500-1700.

Register here for Visitor Passes

Visitor Passes (After Visitor Center Closes)

Currently, Fort Stewart does not allow non-DoD personnel to receive a visitor pass from 2100-0559 hours. The Visitor Control Center (VCC) opens at 0600 and closes at 1800 hours daily. The preferred way to obtain a pass after VCC hours is through our new online pre-registration web site, https://pass.aie.army.mil/steps/branch_selection , this must be completed during VCC hours from 0600-1800, so that our administrative personnel can process in a timely manner. Sponsors and their families must be proactive to complete, if trying to get access to the installation in the same day it is requested. If a person has lost or misplaced their ID card after trusted traveler times, the unit Commander, Director, or housing representative from Balfour Beatty are the only individuals who can vouch for the individual only after the information is recorded by security personnel, to gain access.

Trusted Traveler

Trusted Traveler allows all DoD ID card holders to vouch for all occupants in their vehicle. The DoD ID card holder must be the driver unless observed medical conditions prevents vehicle operation.

Trusted Traveler hours are 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, Monday through Sunday at all gates. After 9 p.m. all occupants of the vehicle will be subject to 100% ID card check at open gates. Contractors and AIE card holders are not authorized Trusted Traveler. Visitor Control Center hours remain 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Stewart and Hunter.
