Sgt. Maj. Cass D. Long, AMCOM Combined Logistics Command
SGM Cass D. Long joined the Army in July 1998. He attended Basic Combat Training at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina and Advanced Individual Training at Ft. Eustis, Virginia as a 68X AH-64A Armament/Electronics System Repairer. He later transitioned to 68Y (now 15Y), AH-64D Armament/Avionics/Electronics System Repairer in August 2000.
SGM Long’s assignments include: 602nd ASB (C/2 AMC), Camp Page, Korea; D/1-101st AVN, Ft. Campbell, KY; 1-291st TSBn, Ft. Hood, TX; D/1-227th ARB, Ft. Hood, TX; HHC/1-227th ARB, Ft. Hood, TX; D/1-52nd GSAB, Ft. Wainwright, AK; HHC/1-52nd GSAB, Ft. Wainwright, AK; HHC, 101 CAB, Ft. Campbell, KY; 615th ASB, Ft. Hood, TX; and 1ACB, Fort Hood, TX. His deployments include two tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, two tours in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, and two rotations in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve. He has held every leadership role from squad leader to brigade command sergeant major.
SGM Long’s military education includes the Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course, Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course, United States Army Sergeants Major Course (Class 69), Air Assault Course, Master Resiliency Trainer Course, and the Army SHARP Course. He currently holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle University.
SGM Long’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (3OLC), Army Commendation Medal (9OLC), Army Achievement Medal (4OLC), the Air Assault Badge, and the Master Aviation Badge. He is a member of the Order of St. Michael (Bronze Medallion) as well as a member of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club.
SGM Long has been married to his wife, Tara, for over 25 years. They have two sons: Dylan, 30, and Colton, 23.
