Sgt. Maj. Nicholas D. Burney, Aviation Center Logistics Command

Sgt. Maj. Nicholas D. Burney hails from Osceola, Missouri, and enlisted in the U.S. Army in September 1998. He attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. He then graduated from Fort Eustis, Virginia, as a 67R, AH-64 Apache maintainer.

Burney has served proudly for the past 22 years. His assignments include 1-227th Aviation Regiment, 1st Air Cav Brigade, Fort Hood, Texas; 1-2 Aviation Regiment, 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade, Camp Page, South Korea; 1-101st Aviation Battalion, 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Most recently, he served with the128th Aviation Brigade, Fort Eustis. He has multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan.

His military education includes all levels of NCOES, Air Assault School, Cadre Training Course, Basic Instructor Training Course; He is a graduate of Class 69 nonresident Class 45 of the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy. Burney holds a Bachelor of Science in law enforcement administration from Ashford University.

Burney’s awards and decorations include: Bronze Star Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with six Oak Leaf Clusters, Combat Action Badge, Master Aviation Badge, Air Assault Badge, and the Honorable Order of St. Michael (Bronze) from the Army Aviation Association of America.
