Tildon "Kye" Allen, Aviation Center Logistics Command
Tildon K. “Kye” Allen is the deputy to the commander for the Aviation Center Logistics Command at Fort Rucker, Alabama. In this capacity, he serves as principal assistant and advisor to the commander for the management of logistics, aviation maintenance, and contract management supporting helicopter and UAV flight training and operations for the U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence and Fleet Maintenance Expanded mission supporting Fires Center of Excellence, Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Allen is responsible for environmental issues, financial and manpower management, training, logistics, aviation engineering, personnel administration, contracting, information systems, security, safety, facilities management and repairs, and supply and transportation.
Allen performs personnel management duties for over 300 civilian and military personnel who provide contract support and oversight for the $500M per year aviation maintenance contracts employing over 3,800 contract personnel, who maintain approximately 600 helicopters and UAVs at six airfields across Alabama, Georgia and Arizona supporting an annual flying hour program in excess of 250,000 hours.
Allen began his military career in September 1980. He enlisted as an Avionics Electronic Navigational Repairer. Allen was also enlisted as infantry in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard where he attended Officer Candidate School and subsequently commissioned in 1984.
He received a Bachelor of General Studies in business from Eastern Connecticut State University and a master’s degree in quality systems management from National Graduate School of Quality Management. His military education includes the Aviation Officer Basic Course, Aviation Officer Advanced Course, Combined Arms Services Staff School, and the Command and General Staff Officer Course. His aviation training includes Initial Entry Rotary Wing Course, Aviation Maintenance Officer Course, UH-60 and CH-47 qualification courses, and UH-1 and UH-60 maintenance test pilot courses.
Allen served as a pilot and maintenance officer in 963rd Combat Aviation Battalion as an M-Day Soldier from 1986 to 1988. In August 1988, Allen accepted a Department of the Army civilian position with the Connecticut Army National Guard, 1109th AVCRAD, serving as the training officer/administrative officer. In 1990, Allen was appointed as an AGR officer, 1-169th Aviation Regiment, Medium Lift Helicopter Battalion, serving as the assistant S2/S3. In the years 1992 to 2004, he served as an AGR Title 32 officer with assignments as administrative division chief, maintenance division chief, quality control division chief, and XO, at 1109th Aviation Classification Repair Activity Depot.
In 2004, Allen served as a Title 10 officer at National Guard Bureau, Aviation and Safety Division as chief, Systems and Readiness Branch. In July 2008, Allen served as the commander, TASM-E, Mannheim, Germany and subsequently retired in November 2011.
After military retirement Allen worked as a civilian in the aerospace industry in the capacities of project manager, program manager and director of operations.
