Lieutenant Colonel Rachel R. Bowers graduated from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and was commissioned as a Military Police officer in 2004. She holds a Masters of Arts degree in Business and Organizational Security Management.
Her key assignments include: Platoon Leader for Charlie Battery 1-25 Field Artillery Regiment, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, Platoon Leader and Company Executive Officer for 58th Military Police Company at Schofield Barracks, HI, Operations Officer for the Combined Security Transition Command, Afghanistan, Command of the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 705th Military Police Battalion at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas (responsibilities included 705th Military Police Battalion staff and the Mid-West Joint Regional Confinement Facility Special Housing Unit), U.S. Military Corrections, Arifjan, Kuwait, Brigade Operations Officer for the 15th Military Police Brigade, Provost Marshal and Commander for the International Military Police Company for the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers, Mons, Belgium, Battalion Executive Officer for the 795th Military Police Battalion and the Brigade Operations Officer for the 14th Military Police Brigade, Military Police Regimental Proponent Officer, and V Corps Deputy Provost Marshal and Deputy Corps Protection Officer. She has deployed three times in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Assure and Deter.
Lieutenant Colonel Bowers’ training includes Military Police Corps Officer Basic Course, Military Police Captain’s Career Course, United States Army Command General Staff College, Critical Incident Peer Support, Child Abuse Prevention and Investigative Techniques, Special Victims, Anti-Terrorism, Arms Room, Supply, Budget, and Unit Movement Officer.
Her awards and decorations include Defense Meritorious Service Medal (1 OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (2 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (1 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (1 OLC), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (with Numeral 5), and NATO Medal, Army Superior Unit Award, German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (Silver), and the Military Police Regimental Association’s Order of the Marechaussee in Bronze.
Lieutenant Colonel Bowers is married to Mr. Joseph Bowers of Greeneville, Tennessee and they have four children; three daughters, Skylar, Oryanna, and Alyta; and one son, Toryan.
