NOTICE: The Presidio of Monterey began enforcement of the Real ID Act for access to our installation starting OCTOBER, 2018.
Those seeking access to the Presidio, to include contractors, sub-contractors and visitors will need a Real ID compliant state issued driver's license or ID card OR an acceptable alternate form of identification (see list at bottom of post). This directive is conjunctive to all installation access procedures already in place.
For FAQ's about Real ID visit: www.dhs.gov/real-id-public-faqs
The California DMV will provide a federal compliant REAL ID driver license or ID card as an option to customers beginning in January 2018. For more info on this visit: www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/detail/realid
People without a California State Enhanced Driver’s License or ID must provide one of the following forms of ID to access the installation:
- U.S. Passport or U.S. Passport Card
- Permanent resident card or Alien Registration Receipt Card (INS Form I-551)
- Foreign passport with a temporary I-551 stamp or temporary I-551 with printed notation on a machine readable immigrant visa
- Foreign passport with a current arrival-departure record or foreign passport with INS Form I-94/I-94A bearing the same names as the passport and containing an endorsement of the alien’s nonimmigrant status, if that status authorizes the alien to work for an employer
- Employment authorization document that contains a photograph (INS Form I-776)
- Driver license or identification card issued by a State or outlying U.S. possession that is Real ID compliant.
- An approved POM Form 7: Installation Access Application
- U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Card or Transportation Worker ID Card issued by DHS
- Native American tribal document
- U.S. Government issued, authenticated Federal PIV credentials
- For anyone under 18, a school ID card that contains a photo
Vehicle Registration Policy
The Department of the Army no longer requires motor vehicle registration and the display of a vehicle decal for access to installations. However, ALL personnel entering installations will still require personal identification that authorizes access (DoD photo ID). All privately owned vehicles must continue to be licensed, registered, inspected and insured in accordance with state and local laws. Each service in DoD is taking or has already adopted this policy change.
Visitors without proper DoD identification will continue to report to the Visitor Control Center at Bolio Gate for identity verification and vehicle passes.
