Fighters with Northern Lightning exercise drop JDAM munitions

On Aug. 13, an Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcon dropped a 500-pound Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) in a designated area of Fort McCoy’s impact area on North Post for the first time in post history as part of training in the Northern Lightning 2021 exercise. (Link)




 

Chief of Staff of the Army makes historic visit to post

U.S. Army Soldiers were seeing stars, and lots of them, while conducting annual training at Fort McCoy when Gen. James C. McConville, the 40th Chief of Staff of the Army, visited the post for the first time Aug. 11. (Link)




 

EOD Airmen participate in Audacious Warrior at Fort McCoy, Volk Field

BRIDGE REPAIR PLANNED

Fort McCoy’s South J Street will be closed Aug. 23 through Oct. 29 from South 8th Avenue to South 9th Avenue for construction of a new bridge over Tarr Creek, Fort McCoy Directorate of Public Works (DPW) officials said.

The suggested detour is to jog to the west utilizing South 8th Avenue, South F Street,  and South 9th Avenue.
