The Army Career Skills Program (CSP) affords transitioning Soldiers the opportunity to participate in first class apprenticeships, on-the-job training (OJT), employment skills training (EST), and internships up to 180 days prior to separation from the Army with a high probability of employment in high-demand and highly-skilled jobs.
Eligibility
- Soldier must be within 180 days of separation/retirement
- Soldier must have completed TAP Career Readiness Standards requirements
- Soldier must have Commander approval
- Programs may have additional requirements
For Cohort Programs (contact CSP Administrator or Transition Assistance Center for forms):
- Complete CSP Soldier Participation Memo.
- If attending a CSP more than 50-miles from your home stations, complete DA Form 31, Request and Authority for Leave.
- Complete any other application materials required by the provider.
- For additional information, contact your Career Skills Program Administrator or Transition Assistance Center.
For Individual Internships (contact CSP Administrator or Transition Assistance Center for forms):
- Complete CSP Soldier Participation Memo.
- Complete Individual Internship Agreement.
- Complete DA Form 31, Request and Authority for Leave it attending a CSP more than 50-miles from home station.
- Complete any other application materials required by the provider.

Able Forces Professional Services (Digital Court Reporter) – 4 WEEKS
Able Forces Professional Services is a skill-bridge that prepares the transitioning service member in emerging Digital Court Reporting and Legal Transcription and other professional skills, thus filling the talent gap between service members skills required in the job market. Most court reporters have opportunities to relocate outside Virginia to include Federal contracts with Department of Veterans Affairs and Department of Justice-Federal Grand Jury.

Shippers’ Choice operates a commercial driving school offering instruction enabling transitioning Soldiers to obtain a Commercial Driver License. Southside Virginia Community College/ Phlebotomy Certification Program - 13 WEEKS
SVCC provide Soldiers with training to become integral members of the healthcare team as they learn basic skills and certification for the phlebotomy field. SVCC offers a 13 weeks Phlebotomy program , which consist of written, clinical exams, and performance base assessments with no cost for eligible Service Members.
