SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii -- His Excellency, the Most Reverend Timothy P. Broglio, J.C.D., Archbishop for the Military Services, awarded the Medal of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, United States of America, to Tracey Harger, Catholic Pastoral Life Coordinator for U.S. Army Garrison Hawaii, in acknowledgement of and with appreciation for outstanding volunteer service to the Archdiocese. The award was presented by Father John Shimotsu on behalf of the Archbishop at a Mass on June 11, 2019, at the Soldier’s Chapel, here.
Tracey Harger is the wife of Col. Rick Harger, director, Combat Capabilities Development Command-Pacific, who was delighted that his spouse was recognized.
The Medal of the AMS, granted infrequently, is given only to an individual who has demonstrated qualities worthy of special recognition and served without recompense over an extended period of time. By her exemplary moral character, fidelity to the teachings and mission of the Church, and devotion and service to the Catholic community, Harger's many contributions were judged by Archbishop Broglio to warrant this recognition.

The front side of the medallion features an image of the risen Christ taken from the Roman Catacombs and encircled by the words “Lord, God of Hosts.” The title, “God of Hosts,” means “God of the Armies.” The reverse side of the medallion features the Coat of Arms of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, United States of America.
