The Employee Assistance Program Coordinator (EAPC) provides Department of the Army civilians the opportunity to address any personal problem that is impacting, or could impact their duty performance. Short term counseling services, up to four one hour sessions are available to DA civilians, their dependents, Retirees, their dependents, and Active Duty dependents. If the problem happens to be alcohol/drug related, screening and referral services are available through the EAPC. For other kinds of problems, the EAP Coordinator may provide short term counseling services or will arrange for assistance/treatment by making a referral to an appropriate agency. Substance Abuse Prevention Program
The Prevention Coordinator (PC) will provide several opportunities for Department of the Army Civilians to receive 2 hours of substance abuse training annually. Supervisors are responsible for ensuring their employees receive this training IAW Army Regulation (AR) 600-85. The Prevention Coordinator also oversees the process of Fort Gordon Soldiers receiving four hours of substance abuse training annually. Providing this training for Soldiers is the responsibility of each unit’s Unit Prevention (UPL) Leader, but the PC can assist with this by providing one of the four hours if contacted and enough lead time is given to provide this service. The PC also conducts various substance abuse prevention campaigns throughout the year such as Red Ribbon Week, Alcohol Awareness Month, and Drunk and Drugged Driving.
