LTC Joshua W. Yarbrough

Lieutenant Colonel Josh Yarbrough currently serves as the Deputy Commander of U.S. Army Support Activity – Fort Dix. He enlisted in 2004, received his direct commission as an Engineer Officer (12A) in 2007, and became an Army Strategist (FA59) in 2023. He has more than 20 years of active and reserve military service. 
 
Before arriving at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, Yarbrough attended the resident U.S. Army War College after serving at U.S. Army Reserve Command as a strategist in the Commander’s Initiatives Group and G-35. His other key developmental, staff, and broadening assignments include the Plans Officer (U.S. Army Pacific) and Battalion S-3 (854th Engineer Battalion). He also commanded the 704th Engineer Company in Hot Springs, AR. Before his AGR accession in 2014, he also spent nine years working for Best Buy at various stores and positions, concluding as a Home Business Group Manager. 
 
Yarbrough managed construction operations as the 854th Engineer Battalion S-3 supporting Operations Spartan Shield, Inherent Resolve, and Freedom’s Sentinel in Kuwait, Iraq, Jordan, Syria, Afghanistan, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar. He also led combat operations supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan while commanding the 704th Engineer Company. 
 
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Louisiana State University Shreveport, Master of Arts in Military Operations from the School of Advanced Military Studies, Master of Science in Geological Engineering from Missouri Science & Technology University, and Master of Arts in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. His military education includes the Engineer Basic Officer Leadership Course, Engineer Captains Career Course, Joint Engineer Operations Course, Command and General Staff College (ILE/AOC), Advanced Military Studies Program (SAMS), Joint Combined Warfare School-Hybrid, Defense Strategy Course, Basic Strategic Art Program, and the U.S. Army War College (SSC). His awards and decorations include two Bronze Stars, Purple Heart, four Meritorious Service Medals, five Army Commendation Medals, including one “V” device, an Army Achievement Medal, the Combat Action Badge, the Army Staff Identification Badge, and two Meritorious Unit Citations. 
 
He is married to Cathy, his wife of over 17 years. They have two children, Florian (14) and Rosalie (niece) (19).
