COL Bryan R. Dunker

COL Bryan Dunker assumed duties as the Garrison Commander of U.S. Army Support Activity–Fort Dix and Deputy Commander of Joint Base McGuire, Dix, Lakehurst (JBMDL) in July 2024.

COL Dunker was commissioned in the Army Corps of Engineers after graduating as a Distinguished Military Graduate from Lehigh University in 2001. His military career has spanned 23 years of service across all three Army components: Active Duty, National Guard, and Army Reserve. He launched his career on Active Duty as a Combat Engineer Officer leading Soldiers in mechanized units throughout Germany, Kosovo, and Iraq. COL Dunker transitioned in 2006 and served four years in the WI and TN National Guards commanding at the company level. In 2011, he broadened his professional skills by transferring to the Army Reserve, and he subsequently gained field grade officer experience from the battalion to the Army Service Component Command (ASCC) and Geographic Combatant Command (GCC) levels.

COL Dunker holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Lehigh University. He holds a Master of Art degree in Defense and Strategic Studies (Distinguished Graduate) from the U.S. Naval War College. He also holds a Master of Art degree in Strategic Studies (Distinguished Graduate) from the U.S. Army War College. COL Dunker’s professional military education includes the Engineer Officer Basic Course, Engineer Captain’s Career Course, College of Naval Command and Staff Course, Maritime Advanced Warfighting School, Security Cooperation Planner’s Course, and Senior Service College. He is an Intern Engineer in the state of Pennsylvania and a certified Project Management Professional.

COL Dunker is Airborne, Ranger, and Sapper Qualified. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2OLC), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (3OLC), Army Achievement Medal (1OLC), Combat Action Badge, and Bronze de Fluery Medal.

COL Dunker is married to his wife, Katherine, and they are blessed with two young daughters, Anya and Eva.
