Lt. Col. Erikson McCleary, Battalion Commander
Army Field Support Battalion - Carson
Lt. Col. Erikson McCleary assumed command of the Army Field Support Battalion-Carson on June 13, 2024.
McCleary graduated from the Virginia Tech and was commissioned in 2006 in the Transportation Corps. He was assigned to Germany, where he served as a platoon leader, company executive officer and operations officer, deploying to Afghanistan with NATO forces and to Iraq with the 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment.
Following the Combined Logistics Captains Career Course, he was assigned to Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and served as the 101st Sustainment Brigade Support Operations (SPO) transportation planner and gun truck commander of the 594th Transportation Company in Afghanistan. After command, he served as an assistant professor of Military Science at Virginia Tech and in the Maj. Gen. James Wright Fellowship at The College of William and Mary, Virginia. Following the fellowship, he served at Fort Eustis, Virginia, as a concept developer at U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command. After his utilization tour, he was assigned to Fort Stewart, Georgia, where he served as 3rd Infantry Division Sustainment Brigade SPO transportation branch chief and SPO deploying to Afghanistan. He then served as the S4 and SPO to the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Inf. Div., deploying to Poland. McCleary completed his joint assignment at United States Forces Korea as the joint sustainment planner (J45) at Camp Humphreys, Republic of Korea. Most recently, he served as the Defense Logistics Agency liaison team chief to U.S. European Command at Patch Barracks, Germany.
His military education includes the Transportation Officer Basic Course, Combined Logistics Captains Career Course, Support Operations Course, Air Assault School, Pathfinder Course, Command and General Staff College, and Joint and Combine Warfighting School (JPME II).
McCleary’s civilian education includes a Bachelor of Science in accounting and information systems from Virginia Tech, Master of Arts in human relations from the University of Oklahoma and a Master of Business Administration from The College of William and Mary. He is also a member of the Order of the Spur, the Order of the Golden Spur, the Order of Saint Christopher, a SOLE recognized Demonstrated Master Logistician, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, Project Management Professional (PMP) holding member from the Project Management Institute (PMI), and a Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) by the Institute for Supply Management (ISM).
His awards and decorations include two Bronze Star Medals, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, three Meritorious Service Medals, Joint Commendation Medal, three Army Commendation Medals, Joint Service Achievement Medal, two Army Achievement Medals, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with two bronze service star, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon with numeral five, NATO Service Medal, Air Assault Badge, Pathfinder Badge and German Sports Badge.
McCleary is a native of Stow, Ohio. He is married with two children.
