Command Sgt. Maj. Patrick M. O’Rourke Jr. was born in Santa Barbara, California. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in January 2001 and attended One Station Unit Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, where he trained as a military policeman. In 2006, he applied for and was accepted to become a Criminal Investigations Division (CID) special agent.

O’Rourke’s military assignments include military policeman, team leader and squad leader with the 554th Military Police Company, Stuttgart, Germany; military police desk sergeant, 252nd MP Detachment, Fort Leonard Wood; special agent and detachment sergeant, 78th MP Det. (CID), Fort Leonard Wood; detachment sergeant, 481st MP Det. (CID), Baumholder, Germany; evidence custodian, 30th MP Det. (CID), Fort Stewart, Georgia; first sergeant, Korea Field Office, Yongsan, Republic of Korea; counterintelligence liaison, U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command, Fort Belvoir, Virginia; operations NCO, 10th MP Battalion (CID)(FWD), Bagram, Afghanistan; first sergeant, 502nd MP Bn. (CID), Fort Campbell, Kentucky; operations NCO, 701st MP Group (CID), Quantico, Virginia; sergeant major, Directorate of Emergency Services, U.S. Army Garrison Drum, Fort Drum, New York; operations sergeant major, 91st MP Bn., Fort Drum; and protection/provost sergeant major, V Corps, Fort Knox, Kentucky. He has deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan, and Operation Assure and Deter, Poland.

O’Rourke’s military education includes all levels of the Noncommissioned Officer Education System and United States Army Sergeants Major Academy. He is a graduate of the Apprentice CID Special Agent Course, Evidence Management Certification Course, Special Agent Laboratory Training Course, Advanced Crime Scene Investigative Techniques Course, Reid Technique of Interviewing and Interrogation Course, Advanced Reid Technique of Interviewing and Interrogation Course, FBI Crisis Negotiation Training Course, Child Abuse Prevention and Investigative Techniques Course, Special Victims Capability Course, Domestic Violence Intervention Training Course and the Battalion Pre-Command Course. O’Rourke holds a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from Bethel University.
