Command Sgt. Maj. Juan Lozano Jr.

Command Sgt. Maj. Juan Lozano Jr. is a native of San Antonio. He enlisted in the Army July 23, 1999, and attended One Station Unit Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, earning the military occupation specialty of 13B, Field Artillery Cannon Crewman.
Lozano has served in every leadership position from section chief to first sergeant.
His stateside assignments include Bravo Battery, 3rd Battalion, 16th Field Artillery Regiment, Fort Cavazos, Texas, from December 1999 to December 2002; Alpha Battery, 1st Battalion, 76th Field Artillery, Fort Stewart, Georgia, from May 2007 to January 2012; master gunner in Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 1st Battalion, 76th Field Artillery, reflagged to 1st Battalion, 9th Field Artillery Regiment, Fort Stewart, Georgia, from February 2012 to June 2014; firs sergeant, Alpha Battery, 9th Field Artillery Regiment, from July 2014 to April 2017; senior military instructor, New Mexico Military Institute, Roswell, New Mexico, from May 2017 to April 2018; branch manager, United States Army Human Resources Command, Fort Knox, Kentucky, from May 2018 to June 2019; and student, United States Army Sergeants Major Academy from July 2019 to June 2020.
His overseas assignments include Bravo Battery, 4th Battalion, 27th Field Artillery, Baumholder, Germany, from January 2003 to November 2005; Alpha Battery, 4th Battalion, 27th Field Artillery, Baumholder, Germany, from December 2005 to April 2007; operations sergeant major, 3rd Infantry Division Artillery, Fort Stewart, Georgia, from July 2020 to February 2022. He has deployed four times to Iraq (2003, 2005, 2007 and 2010), once to Afghanistan (2013), and participated in a Regional Alignment Force mission in Africa (2016).
Lozano’s military education includes all levels of the NCO Professional Development System through the Sergeants Major Course, Foundation Instructor Facilitator Course, Field Artillery Master Gunners Course and Equal Opportunity Advisor Course.
His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Army Commendation Medal with four oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal with six oak leaf clusters, Presidential Unit Citation, Naval Unit Citation, Meritorious Unit Citation, Army Good Conduct Medal (sixth Award), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with campaign star, Iraq Campaign Medal with five campaign stars, Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terror Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon with Numeral 3, Overseas Service Ribbon with Numeral 6, NATO medal and the Combat Action Badge. He is also a member of the prestigious Honorable Order of Saint Barbara, the patron saint of the Field Artillery.
Lozano is married and has two children.
