Brigadier General Frank J. Stanco

Deputy Commanding General - Operations, 1st Armored Division and Fort Bliss

Brig. Gen. Frank Stanco currently serves as the Deputy Commanding General – Operations of 1st Armored Division, Fort Bliss, Texas.

On May 14, 1993, he was commissioned as a Field Artillery Officer upon graduation from Officer Candidate School as a Distinguished Honor Graduate. His previous command assignments include a separate Field Artillery Battery and Brigade Headquarters Battery in the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Parachute Field Artillery Battalion, 25th Infantry Division, Fort Richardson, Alaska; and Division Field Artillery Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Kentucky.  He deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan during each of his commands in 2003, 2006, 2011, and 2019.

Brig. Gen. Stanco's company-grade staff assignments include Troop Fire Support Officer, 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Pelham, Korea; Company Fire Support Officer, Battery Executive Officer, Brigade Assistant Operations Officer, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; and Battalion Fire Support Officer and Assistant Battalion Operations Officer, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He served as the Assistant Joint Operations Officer for JTF-Bravo, Honduras, in 1998.

During his time as a field-grade officer he had numerous assignments across the country to include Field Artillery Battalion Operations Officer, Field Artillery Battalion Executive Officer and Infantry Brigade Fire Support Officer, 10th Mountain Infantry Division, Fort Drum, New York; Observer Controller/Trainer, Joint Readiness Training Center, Fort Polk, Louisiana; Aide-de-Camp for the Commanding General of United States Army Forces Command, Fort McPherson, Georgia; and G-35 Chief of Operations, United States Army Training and Doctrine Command, Fort Eustis, Virginia.  Brig. Gen. Stanco previously served in a joint assignment as Executive Assistant to the Supreme Allied Commander, Europe, in Belgium before his assignment to the 1st Armored Division, Fort Bliss, in 2020 where he most recently served as the Deputy Commanding Officer – Support.

Brig. Gen. Stanco is a graduate of the Field Artillery Officer Basic and Advanced Course, the Command and General Staff Officers Course, the Joint and Combined Warfare School, served as a Harvard National Security fellow in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Chief of Staff of the Army Senior Fellow in Washington D.C. His Bachelor of Science degree is with a field of study in Pre-Med Biology; his Master of Science degree is in Business Administration.

Brig. Gen. Stanco's awards include the Distinguished Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, and the Bronze Star Medal. He is authorized to wear the Army Ranger Tab, Expert Field Medical Badge, Senior Parachutist Badge, and Air Assault Badge.
