Commander

LTC Lee D. Monzon

LTC Lee Monzon commissioned as a Military Police Officer in 2005, through the Army ROTC at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

LTC Monzon recently served as the Army North (5th Army) Provost Marshal Protection Directorate – Operations Division Chief and Operations Officer in Fort Sam Houston, Texas, from August 2020 to May 2022. Prior to his assignment at Army North, he was assigned to the Joint Staff in the National and Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications Division, Deputy Directorate for Nuclear and Homeland Defense Operations, J3, in Washington, D.C., from May 2018 to July 2020.

Other key duty assignments include: U.S. Army Interagency Fellow to the Strategic Planning and Analysis Directorate, U.S. Border Patrol Headquarters, Washington, D.C.; Battalion Executive Officer and Battalion Operations Officer S3, 97th Military Police Battalion, Fort Riley, Kansas; Troop Commander/Operational Advisor, Able Squadron, Asymmetric Warfare Group, Fort Meade, Maryland; Company Commander, 57th Military Police Company, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; Assistant Plans Officer, 8th Military Police Brigade, Schofield Barracks; Battalion Adjutant S1, Arctic Military Police Battalion (Provisional), Fort Richardson, Alaska; and Platoon Leader, 164th Military Police Company, Fort Richardson. 

LTC Monzon deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and other global operations throughout the Middle East, to include Jordan, Kuwait, and Lebanon. 

His military education includes Command and Staff College, Marine Corps University, Quantico, Virginia, and Military Police Officer Basic and Captain’s Career Courses, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.  He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and earned a master’s degree in Military Studies from the Marine Corps University. 

LTC Monzon’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3 Oak Leaf Clusters), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (1 OLC), Joint Staff Identification Badge, Combat Action Badge, Air Assault Badge, and the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (Gold).

Command Sgt. Maj. Nagoshi enlisted in the United States Army as a Military Policeman in May 1997 and completed One Station Unit Training at Fort McClellan, Alabama.

His recent duties and assignments include: The Asymmetric Warfare Group, Fort Meade, Maryland; Detachment Sergeant, 13th Military Police Detachment, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; 1SG, D Co 795 MP BN, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; PM Operations NCO and 1SG, HHC BDE 1SFAB, Fort Benning, Georgia; Operations SGM, 94th Military Police Battalion, Camp Humphreys, Korea.

CSM Nagoshi’s deployments include: Operation Iraqi Freedom II and III (Mosul, Iraq), Operation Enduring Freedom I and II (Bagram, Afghanistan), Operation Iraqi Freedom 2009 (Baqubah, Iraq), Operation Enduring Freedom 2011 (RC-East), Operation Enduring Freedom 2012 (RC-South), Operation Freedom Sentinel 2018 (Mazar-i-Sharif).

His military and civilian education includes Warrior Leader’s Course, Advanced Leader’s Course (Distinguished Leader Award), Senior Leader’s Course, Sergeants Major Course-R Class 71 (Distinguished Honor Graduate), The Army Pre-Ranger Course, Battle Staff NCO Course, SERE-C (High Risk), Advanced Military Transition Team, INLWIC, Special Reaction Team Phase 1 and 2, AT Advanced and Basic Course, ABIC, EO Leaders Course, Air Assault, Conventional Physical Security, OATC, Combat Advisor Training Course, and Law Enforcement Senior Leaders Course. CSM Nagoshi holds an associate degree in general studies, bachelor’s degree in Homeland Security from American Military University and a master’s degree in Business Management from Excelsior University.

CSM Nagoshi’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (2nd Award), Meritorious Service Medal (5th Award), Army Commendation Medal (V Device, 8th Award), Army Achievement Medal (6th Award). He has also been awarded the Army Staff Identification Badge, the Combat Action Badge, Driver’s Badge, Air Assault Badge, German GAFB (Gold) and the German Schützenschnur (Gold).  He is also a member of the prestigious Sergeant Audie Murphy Club and bronze recipient of the Military Police Order of the Marechaussee.
