RTL Christmas Parade is coming to Mons
For the very first time, the famous RTL Christmas parade will be in Mons on Dec. 14. It is composed of about twenty floats and hundreds of actors.
From 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., visitors will see the Polar Express Train, Santa Claus, the mythical Coca-Cola Christmas truck, and more.
The parade will start and end on Rue de Nimy. It will wind its way through Rue de Nimy, Rue des Arbalestriers, Rue d’Havré, Rue de Houdain, Rue des Fripiers, Rue de la Chaussée, and Rue de Nimy.
For security reasons, parking will be prohibited in many streets:
- Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.: Avenue du Tir (between Rue Jules Cornet and Boulevard Kennedy).
- Saturday from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.: Rue Pierre-Joseph Dumesnil, Rue des Arbalestriers, Rue des Droits de l’Homme, Rue des Expositions, Rue des Groseilliers (between street numbers 45 and 31) , Rue d’Havré, Rue du Hautbois, Rue de Houdain, Rue des Fripiers, Rue Notre-Dame, Rue de Nimy, Rue des Fossés, Rue des Marcottes, Rue des Tuileries, Rue Antoine Clesse, Rue du grand, Jour and Rue de la Biche.
- From Saturday 3 p.m. through Sunday 5 p.m.: Rue de Nimy, Rue Neuve, Rue d’Enghien, Rue d’Havré, Rue de la Clef, Rue du 11 Novembre, and Place du Parc.
Many streets will be blocked from Saturday 4:30 p.m. through Sunday 5 a.m. Free parking will be available on Place Nervienne, at parking Saint-Fiacre (between Chaussée du Roeulx and Rue de Binche), on Avenue des Guérites, Rue du Grand Large (with a shuttle), and at Lotto Mons Expo on Avenue Thomas Edison (with a shuttle).
You can also go to Mons by train or by bus. It will be free from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. For more information, visit www.sncb.be and www.infotec.be.
The Christmas Parade will also be in Wavre on Dec. 20 at 8 p.m. If you want to attend the event, please remain vigilant and maintain situational awareness at all times.
