Relive the medieval times in Chièvres May 17-19

CHIÈVRES, Belgium -- The city of Chièvres will host the third Cervia Medieval May 17-19. The event is an opportunity for attendees to discover the city’s medieval past while enjoying activities and entertainment such as music, dance, shows, and a market of that time period. Visitors will be able to travel through history and experience the medieval at¬mosphere in symbolic places in Chièvres.

Festivities will start Saturday with a parade on Rue du Château at 10:45 a.m. Afterwards, people are invited to visit the camps and craftsmen around Chièvres. Activities and shows will start at 2 p.m.

The festival and a medieval market will be held around the Saint Martin Church and Tower Gavre. There will be other attractions during those days such as battle reenactments, live demonstrations, theater concerts and magic shows. Visitors will also find jewelry, culinary specialties, stories, paintings and more.

The Cervia Medieval Associa¬tion was created in January 2017 and is made up of three medieval groups: Les Ménétriers (Music), Damizon (Dance) and Les Archers de Cervia (archery, battles and craftspeople). The Chièvres Tourism Office, the Cultural Center of Ath and the city of Chièvres also partner with them to organize the event.

The two event entry points are on Av¬enue Albert 1er and on Rue du Château. Entrance is free. For more information, visit here.
