Fuel ration to change in 2021 for US personnel in Netherlands

BRUNSSUM, Netherlands – Effective Jan. 1, 2021, the amount of rationed fuel available each month will no longer be a function of the number of vehicles registered with JFC Brunssum, the type of fuel used, or the size of the engine. Instead, the fuel ration for all eligible U.S. personnel stationed in the Netherlands will be capped at 400 liters per sponsor per month.

This fuel ration change was originally announced by the Dutch government in August 2017, amended in March of 2018, and has already been unsuccessfully appealed at the highest level by the U.S. Government.

Also effective Jan. 1, the maximum number of fuel cards per sponsor will be limited to two (2). These two cards can be used for any registered vehicle or fuel type, and users can spread their authorized rations whichever way they want, as long as they stay within the 400 liters and understand anything above that limit will be charged at the taxed price.

The AAFES-Europe ESSO Fuel Card management team will assist USAG Benelux by contacting contact users who currently have more than two (2) cards to determine which card(s) will be deactivated on Jan. 1. The team will also send out targeted reminders to those sponsors who currently use more than 400 liters per month so they clearly understand the new ration restrictions and plan accordingly.
