Army taps three from IMCOM-Europe for leadership positions, training
WIESBADEN, Germany – The Army has selected three leaders from Installation Management Command-Europe to participate in the Senior Enterprise Talent Management/Enterprise Talent Management (SETM-ETM) program.
Selection for SETM-ETM modules is linked to an applicant’s past and present duty performance, potential for leadership and career progression and the needs of the Army, according to the Army description of the program.
Scott Mowry, Deputy to the Garrison Commander at U.S. Army Garrison Wiesbaden, was selected to participate in the Defense Senior Leader Development Program (DSLDP), which will include attendance at one of the Senior Service Colleges, followed by leadership seminars and a developmental assignment.
Mowry has been with USAG Wiesbaden since 2019, following an assignment on the staff of IMCOM-Europe headquarters that began in 2015. He began his Federal Civilian Service career in December 1999 with the United States Postal Service as a Supervisor of Distribution Operations and later joined the General Services Administration
“I've been blessed with many opportunities at IMCOM-Europe and USAG Wiesbaden that will greatly enhance my participation in the DSLDP program,” Mowry said. “I am thankful for this opportunity and will miss my awesome teammates at USAG Wiesbaden and IMCOM-Europe.”
Charles “Bernie” Kruse, Director of Public Works for U.S. Army Garrison Italy, was selected to attend the Army War College, after which, according to the Army, “graduates are placed in positions intended to leverage the competencies fostered at SSC and where the Army most needs their capabilities.”
Kruse has been the DPW director since April, following more than five years of service as its deputy director. He has served in a number of engineering and master planning roles, since beginning his federal career in 1991.
"I am honored to have the opportunity to attend the Army War College. I'll remain truly grateful to the USAG Italy and IMCOM-E Leadership that showed great confidence in me when they endorsed my application for the Senior Service College,” Kruse said. “I know this educational experience will help me further achieve my career goals and the goals of the Army.”
Steven Gray, Resource Management Officer for U.S. Army Garrison Benelux, was selected to participate in a project-based SETM temporary duty assignment, intended, according to the Army description, “to challenge and provide a ‘broadening’ experience to the participant, consisting of a TDY assignment to work on a special project.”
Gray entered federal civilian service in 1994, upon completing his active duty service. He is a DoD comptroller with experience as a budget officer and resource officer in various communities Germany, Puerto Rico, and four assignments at the Pentagon.
