APG Proving It Demonstration Day: 20 May 2023
Join us for APG’s Proving It Demonstration Day! Enter our gates to learn more about the extraordinary missions we prove every day through hands-on exhibits and demonstrations in our Exploration Zone to include a performance from our U.S. Army Drill Team (Old Guard), Army Aerial demonstration, and much more. We’ll also feature a ticketed Live Fire Show to witness up-close APG’s testing capabilities for the Warfighter

Tickets are free and only required for entry to the Live Fire Show that begins at 3:00 p.m. All other activities are open to the general public with no ticket required to enter our Exploration Zone, which will be home to our organization displays and premiere shows including the Old Guard Drill Team and Army Air demonstration.

Installation Entry:

For NON-CAC Holders

• We encourage non-CAC holders to use Maryland Boulevard (Route 715) Gate for entry to Aberdeen Proving Ground, which will have additional lanes for entry for those without a CAC ID.

• Entry to the installation requires a valid driver’s license for ALL drivers of vehicles and valid photo ID for ALL passengers 18 years of age or older in the vehicle.

• Drivers’ licenses will be scanned by the APG police.

• A valid photo ID includes any state or federal ID with picture, to include passports.

• All persons and their possessions, to include vehicles, are subject to inspection by the Aberdeen Proving Ground Police Department.

• After entering the installation, follow signage to parking areas.

For CAC Holders:

• All DoD ID card holders may use either access control point via the Maryland Boulevard (Route 715) Gate or the Harford Boulevard (MD 22) Gate.

• Please have valid photo ID ready for any passengers over the age of 18 in your vehicle ready for check upon entry.

Driver safety requirements for APG are as follows:

• A hands-free device must be used when talking on a cellular phone while driving.

• Texting is not permitted while driving.

• All occupants must wear seat belts regardless of position in vehicle.

• Full headlights are required when driving in rain, at dusk or in fog.

Arriving to the Installation:

The GPS address 6001 Combat Drive, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD 21005 will take you to APG Proving It Demo Day general parking. Step by step directions are listed below as well as additional details in the Parking section below.

Driving Directions to access Maryland Boulevard (Route 715) Gate:

  • From I-95 (North or South) to Aberdeen Proving Ground Maryland Boulevard (Route 715) Gate:

• Take exit 80 (Belcamp) and turn onto MD-543 South

• Continue on MD 543 for approximately 1.5 miles

• Take exit to US 40 East

• Follow Route 40 and take the MD 715 exit for Aberdeen Proving Ground.

• Turn right onto Wayberry Road

• Use the parking lot ahead

  • From Route 40 (North or South) to Aberdeen Proving Ground Maryland Boulevard (Route 715) Gate:

• Turn onto Old Philadelphia Road

•Turn left onto MD-715 E / Short lane

•Enter the Maryland Boulevard (Route 715) Gate

•Turn right onto Wayberry Road

•Use the parking lot ahead

General Parking:

Follow signage to parking in the general parking lot located at 6001 Surveillance Loop, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD 21005. This address can be used for GPS directions or you can search “APG Demo Day General Parking” within your GPS application for directions.

Directions from the MD 715 gate:

Drive through 715 Gate onto MARYLAND BLVD.

Turn right at the third traffic light onto WAYBERRY RD.

Continue straight through next traffic light. Parking Lot is straight ahead.

Directions from the MD 22 Gate:

Drive through 22 Gate onto HARFORD BLVD.

Turn right at the first traffic light onto MARYLAND BLVD.

Turn left at the first light onto WAYBERRY RD.

Continue straight through next traffic light. Parking Lot is straight ahead.

Shuttle Services:

Shuttle services will be provided for those attending APG’s Proving It Demo Day. Look for one of the three shuttle stops in the general lot. When there, our volunteers will assist you with entering your shuttle to the event area. Shuttles will run approximately every 5 minutes beginning at 10:45 a.m. The final shuttle from the Exploration Zone will be at 4:15 p.m.

Please note: Strollers, backpacks, and coolers will not be allowed on the shuttles as they are not permitted within the event.

Accessible Parking:

Only disabled tagged or placarded vehicles will be allowed in designated parking areas. Accessible parking for those in need can be found near the Exploration Zone. Follow signage and be ready to have your disabled tag or placard visible for APG Police. For those utilizing GPS directions, please input 6876 Colleran Rd, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD 21005 and follow signage. Please see the event map for Accessible Parking location.

APG Proving It Demonstration Day: 20 May 2023
The safety and security of our visitors is our number one priority. To safeguard the safety of all Live Fire Show attendees, this will be a ticket-only activity during APG’s Proving It Demonstration Day. This helps our team ensure space along the firing line as well as guarantee proper safety equipment and personnel for ticket holders.
Tickets are free and only required for entry to the Live Fire Show that begins at 3 p.m. All other activities are open to the general public with no ticket required to enter our Exploration Zone, which will be home to our organization displays and premiere shows including the Old Guard Drill Team and Army Air demonstration.

Limitations: Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Those picking up tickets can not pick-up more than 4 per household. We cannot and will not reserve or set aside additional tickets for those unable to attend one of the pick-up zones.

Live Stream: For those unable to acquire tickets, we will be live streaming the demonstration to the APG Facebook page for a virtual view of the show!

Distribution: Tickets for the Live Fire Demo have all been distributed. If you did not receive tickets, you are welcome to watch the Live Stream at home or within our Exploration Zone where you’ll still be able to hear and feel the booms!

PERMITTED ITEMS:

•Ticket to the Live Fire Demonstration – no ticket, no entry, no exceptions!

•Clear bags only - All bags are subject to inspection.

•Cameras without bags are allowed.

•Packaged snacks and water bottle or other non-alcoholic beverages in plastic bottles, no bigger than 32 oz., can be brought onto the installation.

•Money holders/Wallets.

•Additional ear protection, although foam earplugs will be provided at the live fire event.

•Closed-toe, walking shoes.

•A positive attitude!

PROHIBITED ITEMS:

•NO purses or backpacks (unless clear), strollers, camera bags, seat cushions, chairs, or similar items.

•NO weapons of any kind are permitted (including but not limited to pocketknives, chemical mace, tasers, etc.).

•NO firearms.

•NO alcohol inside the installation.

•NO MARIJUANA/OTHER FEDERALLY ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES are allowed on APG. While some substances may be legal at the state level, APG is a federal installation and follows federal law.

•NO animals - Only service animals are allowed. All other animals are prohibited.

Who You Will Find in the Exploration Zone:

 All activities in the Exploration Zone are open to the general public with no ticket required to enter our Exploration Zone.

ORGANIZATION WHAT YOU WILL FIND
U.S. Army Drill Team The U.S. Army Drill Team is a precision drill platoon that will showcase their breathtaking routines with bayonet-tipped 1903 Springfield rifles. Soldiers are selected for this elite unit after a three-week assessment and three additional months of rigorous and competitive drill practice. Trim military bearing, strength, and dexterity are mandatory prerequisites for qualification to the Drill Team. You won’t want to miss this unique performance!
DCPH-A (APHC) The Defense Centers for Public Health-Aberdeen, formerly known as Army Public Health Center, will display impressive equipment technology, interactive games, and even LIVE bugs! Be sure to check them out to learn all about the Army’s Public Health Enterprise located right here at APG.
MRICD The U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense will show you the Army’s medical response when there is a chemical/biological disaster! They’ll demonstrate how to use medical equipment, and you’ll get a sneak peek into how Soldiers train for combat casualty events.
DEVCOM The U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command and C5ISR STEM teams will put your STEM knowledge to the test with interactive activities and games. They’ll also have a preview of upcoming opportunities from their teammates at the Army Educational Outreach Program for local students who want to get a jump-start on their path to being the future STEM leaders of tomorrow.
DEVCOM C5ISR CENTER The Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Center is giving you the opportunity to see the world in all its forms! Come visit their booth to try out night vision technology, radios, thermal imaging, and much more!
APG GARRISON Ever wonder what the life of a firefighter looks like? Join the APG Garrison team to learn more about the APG Fire Department, as well as our military police working dogs.
PdM M2S2 The Program Executive Office Missiles and Space Product Manager Multi-Mission Surveillance Systems is pulling out the big wheels and showing you how the Army detects, classifies, and tracks the location of enemy fire!
CECOM SEC The U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command’s Software Engineering Center is ready to teach everyone about cybersecurity! Their Army Reprogramming Analysis Team will show you how they identify and analyze threats, and how they design software, code, and test in response! Help keep Soldiers out of harms way in their booth.
NATIONAL GUARD Learn how the Maryland Army National Guard can help you join the fighting force while also spending more time at home. Our MDARNG teammates will also be providing performances to demonstrate the full gambit of guard capabilities throughout the day, so be sure to stick around.
KUSAHC Our Kirk U.S. Army Health Clinic is bringing out their veterinary command to show how they take care of our Soldiers and military dogs. Between live models and mannequins, Kirk will be able to answer all your questions about medical care for our military, both human and furry!
JPEO-CBRND The Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defense is bringing out equipment to demonstrate how they support the entire Joint Forces, not just the Army! Stop by their booth to find out how they enable the forces to fight and win despite challenging environments!
20th CBRNE The 20th Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives Command is bringing their Nuclear Disablement Team AND an Explosives Ordnance Disposal team to talk about how they keep Soldiers and civilians safe both at home and abroad. Not only that, but they’ll have bomb suits, radiation detection equipment, and EOD robots for you to try your hand at!
PEO IEW&S See how the Program Executive Office for Intelligence, Electronic Warfare & Sensors uses navigation systems, vehicles, and sensors to enable mission success for our Soldiers! They’ll also be on-hand to answer any questions you have about Army Civilian work.
ARCYBER The U.S. Army Cyber Command is ready to show you how the Army's cyber warriors tackle cybersecurity and cyber warfare! Take a seat in their Cyber Tent to get hands-on demonstrations of hacking and coding methods used by our Soldiers to protect the U.S. from its adversaries.
PEO C3T Interested in satellites, radios, and communications? The Program Executive Office for Command, Control, and Communications-Tactical is ready to show it all off! Check out their booth to see how their communications equipment works to connect our Warfighters in the most remote of battlefields.
DEVCOM CBC The U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Chemical Biological Center is here to give you a bird’s eye view of the Exploration Zone with small drone demonstrations! Check out their booth to see how the Army uses drones to get ahead of the enemy and how APG scientists develop the technology behind them.
DEVCOM DAC The U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Analysis Center is in a jam! Learn how DAC uses radio data to jam signals in the battlefield and explore how DAC is developing new solar panels to help Soldiers out of the dreaded low-battery jam, giving them power anywhere!

ORGANIZATION BRIEF DESCRIPTION
ATEC/ATC The U.S. Army Aberdeen Test Center is going to knock your socks off with its first LIVE FIRE DEMONSTRATION in nearly 6 years. Demonstrations will include grenade launchers, the M134 minigun, Bradley Fighting Vehicle, M1 Abrams tank, and much more! This will be a ticketed event due to security and safety precautions, so stay tuned on our social media pages for information about claiming one.

Q: How much does this event cost?
A: Tickets are free and only required for entry to the Live Fire Show that begins at 3:00 p.m. All other activities are open to the general public with no ticket required to enter our Exploration Zone, which will be home to our organization displays and premiere shows including the Old Guard Drill Team and Army Air demonstration.


Q: Do I need to bring any money with me?
A: There is no cost associated with the Exploration Zone aside from food and drinks. Food trucks will be available for the entirety of the event and will require payment should you order food.


Parking:
Q: Where do I park?
A: Follow signage to general parking located at 6001 Combat Drive, APG, MD 21005. Shuttles will be available to bus you to the main Exploration Zone area from there.


Q: How do I get to the parking area?
A: There will be signage to the parking area from the 715 Main Front Gate. GPS will also take you to the correct parking lot by entering 6001 Combat Drive, APG, MD 21005 as the destination address.


Q: How will I be transported from the parking area to the event area?
A: There will be shuttle buses available to transport you to and from the event area. Look for the shuttle stops for pick-up once you arrive to the general parking lot.


Q: How often will shuttles go to and from the parking area?
A: Buses will pick-up visitors at shuttles stop approximately every 5 minutes.


Q: If I forget something in my car, how do I get it?
A: You may go back and forth from your car via the transportation shuttles.


Q: Will you have handicap parking?
A: Yes, handicap parking will be located in the area marked on the day’s parking map in the parking section above. Follow signs for entry. Please be ready to show your handicap tag when entering the Plum Point Loop check-point.

What to bring:
Q: What can I not bring with me?
A: Clear bags and cameras without bags are permitted. Please do not bring purses, backpacks, strollers, camera bags, seat cushions, chairs, or similar items, and no weapons of any kind.

Q: Can I bring my pet with me?
A: Only service animals are allowed at Demo Day.

Drugs, alcohol, medicinal and recreational marijuana are also not permitted on the installation and those in possession of these items may be subject to federal criminal charges.


Q: Are there any kind of age restrictions or limits?
A: Yes, children must be at least 5 years of age or older to attend the live fire demonstration portion of the day -no exceptions. We do recommend that you bring hearing protection for small children for use during the live fire demonstration.


Q: Do I need ID for myself and/or children to come onto the installation?
A: Each individual 18 years of age or older must have a driver’s license or State/Federal issued ID, such as a passport. IDs will be scanned by the police. No ID is required for minors. All vehicles are subject to search.


Q: Can I leave and come back later?
A: Yes, shuttle buses will depart the event area to the general parking lot approximately every 5 minutes.


Weather:
Q: What if it rains or storms?
A: APG Proving It Demonstration Day will be canceled if weather is determined to be unsafe. APG leaders will make a weather callby the evening of Thursday, May 18. Be sure to check this website and our APG social media pages to stay up to date on the latest decisions.

A: Each of our wonderful participating organizations will have different displays, demos, and activities for you. Please check out the descriptions of the organizations on this site for a sneak peek of what to expect! Additionally, there will be performances fromthe Army Drill Team and Army Band, and an aerial display.

A: Please see the map of the day to see where each organization will be stationed during the day.


Food and drink:
Q: Will there be food available?
A: Yes! There will be a series of food trucks available to purchase from. Please see our list of vendors on this site to check out their menu options!


Q: Can I bring my own food and drink?
A: Yes, but be mindful that there is limited seating available and this event is entirely outdoors.

Miscellaneous:
Q: Is this event family-friendly?
A: Children under 5 are not permitted to the Live Fire demonstration. However, our Exploration Zone is open to all ages.

A: Yes, unless otherwise stated. Equipment or activities not for photography or video will be clearly labeled.
