LTC Carlos (Mike) Sanford

Battalion Commander

 
 
 

Lieutenant Colonel Mike Sanford is a native of Zachary, Louisiana. In 2008, he graduated from Methodist College and was subsequently commissioned through the Army Reserve Officers Training Corps program at Campbell University and holds Master’s Degrees from Florida Institute of Technology (Logistics Management) and Georgetown University (Policy Management). He is also a graduate of the Strategic Studies Fellowship Program, and the Enterprise Resource Planning Seminar offered by the Institute for Defense and Business.

 

His assignments include: Distribution Platoon Leader and Executive Officer, Fox - Forward Support  Company, 1st Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment; Transportation Officer (Support Operations), 26th Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division; Aide-de-Camp to the Deputy Commanding General, Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC); Commander, Echo Forward Support Company, 7th Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment; Battalion S3 (Operations), 129th Division Sustainment Support Battalion, 101st Airborne Sustainment Brigade, 101st Airborne (Air Assault) Division; Politico-Military Planner, DD – Asia, Joint Staff Strategy, Plans, and Policy Directorate (J-5), Joint Staff; Headquarters, Department of the Army (HQDA), Logistics Staff Officer, G-44 Supply Directorate - Troop Support; Secretary of the General Staff, 3rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command (ESC), Brigade S3 (Operations), 82nd Airborne Division Sustainment Brigade, and Battalion Executive Officer, 189th Division Sustainment Support Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division; Wargaming Branch Chief, Joint Staff, J-4 and Executive Assistant to the Director for Logistics, J-4; and Strategic Planner to the Secretary of the Army. 

 

His military education includes the Basic Officer Leader Course, Transportation Officer Basic Course, Basic Airborne School, Air Assault School, Logistics Captains Career Course, Command and General Staff College, and the Joint Combined Warfighting School.

 

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal (2), the Joint Commendation Service Medal, the Army Meritorious Service Medal (5), the Iraqi Campaign Medal with three campaign stars, and the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal.

 

He has earned the Joint Staff Identification Badge, Army Staff Badge, Combat Action Badge, Parachutist Badge, Chilean Parachutist Badge, and Air Assault Badge. Lieutenant Colonel Sanford is certified as an Army Strategist and a Demonstrated Master Logistician by the International Society of Logistics.

CSM Juan  C. Alvarado

Command Sergeant Major

Command Sergeant Major Juan C. Alvarado is a native of San Juan, Puerto Rico. After graduating from Nuestra Senora de la Altagracia High School in 1998, he entered the United States Army in April 26, 2000. He attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Moore, Georgia and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Gregg-Adams, Virginia, where he was awarded the Military Occupational Specialty of 92 Alpha: Automated Logistical Specialist.
Command Sergeant Major Alvarado has held key leadership positions from Team Leader to Senior Enlisted Advisor. Along with this, he has served in positions as SASMO NCOIC, SSA NCOIC, SPO NCOIC, G3 NCOIC and S4 Sergeant Major. His previous assignments were the 1-7 Air Defense Artillery Battalion, Fort Bliss, 61st Ordinance Brigade, Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland, 596th Maintenance Company, Darmstadt, Germany, 1-43 Air Defense Artillery Battalion, 32nd Air and Missile Defense Command, Fort Bliss, Texas, 194th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, Camp Humphreys, Korea, 115th Brigade Support Battalion, Fort Cavazos, Texas, 1st Cavalry Division Headquarters, Fort Cavazos Texas, 401st Army Field Support Battalion, Doha, Qatar, 13th Armored Corps Sustainment Command, Fort Hood, Texas, 10th Support Group, Okinawa, Japan and currently 703rd Brigade Support Battalion, Fort Stewart, Georgia.
Command Sergeant Major Alvarado’s military education includes all levels of NCOPDS through Sergeants Major Course (Class 72), SHARP Course, Equal Opportunity Leaders Course, Master Resilience Trainers Course, Battle Staff, Combat Lifesaver Course. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Command and General Staff College (CGSC) and currently pursuing his Masters in Logistics and Transportation Management
