CW5 Robert S. Slider, Chief Warrant Officer, Aviation Branch

Chief Warrant Officer Five C Robert Slider was born in Jacksonville, Florida and was raised in Louisville, KY. He enlisted in the Army as a 68N, Avionics Mechanic, and completed basic training at Fort Jackson, SC in 1992. He attended flight school in 1998 and is qualified in the OH-58 A/C and the AH-64 A/D/E. CW5 Slider’s previous assignments include: HQDA, DCS G-3/5/7 (DAMO-AV) Army Aviation Standardization Officer; Command Chief Warrant Officer for the 12th Combat Aviation Brigade; Directorate Standardization Officer and Senior Warrant Officer Advisor, Directorate of Evaluation and Standardization, Fort Rucker, AL; CAB Standardization Officer and Master Gunner, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley KS during which time he deployed for 7 months in support of Operation Enduring Freedom; Instructor Pilot, Company Standardization Officer, BN Standardization Officer, and BN SWOA, 3-101 AHR, Fort Campbell Ky, during which time he deployed four times for a total of 45 months in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom; Instructor Pilot, A/1-6 CAV, Camp Eagle Korea; and Pilot-in-command in 4/3 ACR, Fort Carson, CO during which time he deployed in support of NATO peace support operations in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

CW5 Slider’s military education includes the Warrant Officer Senior Service Education, Instrument
Flight Examiner’s Course, and the Instructor Pilot Course.

CW5 Slider’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal (4), the Meritorious Service Medal (5), the Air Medal (8), the Army Commendation Medal (5), and the Army Achievement Medal (4). He holds the Master Aviator Badge, the Air Assault Badge, and the Combat Action Badge. He is a recipient of the Order of Saint Michael Bronze and Silver award.

CW5 Slider is married to Shelley of Las Vegas, NV and they have one son, Evan (16) and one daughter, Elizabeth (14).
