Command Sgt. Maj. Ieremia Masaga

Command Sergeant Major Ieremia Masaga, a native of Pago Pago, American Samoa, enlisted in the United States Army Reserve in April 2000. He initially served with Bravo Company "Bulldog", 100th Battalion, 442nd Infantry Regiment before transitioning to the Active Component in February 2004. Upon entering active duty, he completed One Station Unit Training (OSUT) with Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, 58th Infantry Regiment at Fort Benning, Georgia, where he was awarded the Military Occupational Specialty 11B (Infantryman).

Throughout his distinguished twenty-five-year career, CSM Masaga has served in every key tactical and operational leadership position from Rifleman to Command Sergeant Major. His leadership assignments include Bradley Gunner, Rifle Team Leader, Rifle Squad Leader, Instructor/Writer, Platoon Sergeant, Observer, Coach/Trainer (OC/T), First Sergeant, and Operations Sergeant Major.

His duty assignments include: Bravo Company, 100th Battalion, 442nd Infantry Regiment (USAR); Assassin Company, 2nd Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment, 1st Armored Division (Baumholder, Germany); Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 29th Infantry Regiment (Fort Benning, Georgia); Grim Troop, Thunder Squadron, 3rd Cavalry Regiment (Fort Hood, Texas); Warhog Team, Joint Multinational Readiness Center (Hohenfels, Germany); Blackhawk Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division (Fort Hood, Texas); the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy (Fort Bliss, Texas); and Operations Sergeant Major for the G37 Exercise Team, U.S. Army Pacific (Fort Shafter, Hawaii).

CSM Masaga’s operational and combat experience includes two deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (2005–2006, 2008–2009) and two combat tours in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Freedom's Sentinel in Afghanistan. Additionally, he deployed to the European Theater in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve (Poland and Lithuania) and served in support of Operation Allies Welcome at Camp Atterbury, Indiana. His awards and decorations include the Purple Heart, alongside multiple decorations for valor and meritorious service under fire. He is a graduate of Class 75 of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy.

CSM Masaga is married and together they have one daughter. 

Throughout his career, he remains dedicated to the readiness, lethality, and welfare of Soldiers, their Families, and the defense of the Nation.
