LTC Richard B. King

Lieutenant Colonel Richard Brian King was born and raised in Mt. Royal, New Jersey. He began his military career upon graduating high school by enlisting in the U.S. Air Force, where he spent the next 9 years. He was later commissioned through OCS in 2002.  His academic degrees include a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Guam. 2024 graduate of the United States Army War College. He received his commission through Officer Candidate School in 2002. He is a graduate of the Military Intelligence Officer Basic Course, Military Intelligence Captain’s Career Course, Defense Support to Civil Authorities II Course, Command and General Staff College, and the United States Army War College.

Prior to his arrival at Camp Parks, he was assigned as a student at the U.S. Army War College. Previous assignments include G3 Chief of Operations, Military Intelligence Readiness Command; Deputy Commander, 336th Expeditionary Military Intelligence Brigade, Ft. Dix New Jersey; Executive Officer, 203D Military Intelligence Battalion, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD; Army Reserve Engagement Cell (AREC) Military Intelligence Planner, United States Army Pacific Command (USARPAC), Ft. Shafter Hawaii; Company Commander, 203D Military Intelligence Battalion, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD; Assistant Operations Officer, 203D Military Intelligence Battalion, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD; Intelligence Training Officer, Western ARISC, Camp Parks CA; Detachment OIC, North East Army Reserve Intelligence Support Center (ARISC), Fort Devens MA; Battalion Assistant S2, 279th Infantry Battalion, 45th Infantry Brigade.

 

His deployments include; Operation Southern Watch, Dhahran AB Saudi Arabia with the 4404th Composite Wing as a Command Post Controller in 1993; Operation Enduring Freedom, Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan as a Military Intelligence advisor for a Joint Task Force in 2013 where he established an Afghan Special Operations Military Intelligence Company and deployed MI Detachments throughout Afghanistan.

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Army Meritorious Service Medal (1 Silver Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Commendation Medal (2 Oak Leaf Clusters), Air Force Commendation Medal (1 Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Achievement Medal (1 Oak Leaf Cluster), Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal (2 Oak Leaf Clusters), National Defense Service Medal (Bronze Service Star), Southwest Asian Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War On Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal (Silver Hour Glass /M Device), NATO Service Medal (ISAF), Kuwait Liberation Medal, Combat Action Badge, German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (GOLD), and the Air Force Master Instructor Badge. Lieutenant Colonel King is also a recipient of the Knowlton Award and the Order of St. Maurice.
