Colonel Salvatore PISCIOTTA, born in Palermo on April 14, 1970, attended the 171st Course at the Military Academy in Modena from 1989 to 1991 and subsequently the School of Transport and Materials in Rome (1991 to 1994). Upon completion of his studies, he earned a degree in Information Science at the University of Milan.

Once promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, he was assigned in 1993 to the “Tridentina” Logistics Battalion in ELVAS (BZ), where he held the position of Commander of the Weapons and Optoelectronics Platoon.

Transferred to the "Pinerolo" Logistics Battalion in Bari, from 1994 to 2001, he served as Commander of the Medium Transport Platoon, Commander of the Transport Company, Commander of the Maintenance Company, and Commander of the Command and Services Company. Colonel Pisciotta was promoted to the rank of Captain in 1998, and, in 1999, he participated—for approximately six months—in Operation Joint Forge in Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) as Head of the Transport and Materials Section.

Colonel Pisciotta held the position of Company Commander of Transit Management of the 10th Transport Regiment which established at Bari headquarters from 2001 to 2002. During this period, he was employed in Operation Joint Guardian in SKOPIE in North Macedonia (at the time called FYROM) as Company Commander.

He was transferred in 2002 to the 6th Maneuver Regiment in Pisa, where he served until 2005. During this period, he held the position of Head of Operations Section and Head of the Operations, Training, and Information Office at the Regimental Command. Furthermore, in 2004, he attended the 130th General Staff Course and subsequently the 8th Multi-Thematic Course at the Army's School of Application and Institute of Military Studies in Turin. 
 
In 2005, for approximately two months, he served as Commander of the Adherence Support Group in Sarajevo, Bosnia, as part of Operation Althea. Colonel Pisciotta was transferred in 2005 to the Army Logistics Inspectorate (later reconfigured as the Army Logistics Command) in Rome, where he served as an Officer in the Plans Section until 2009. 
 
In 2006, he was promoted to Major, and from 2008 to 2009, he attended the 11th ISSMI Course at the Center for Advanced Defense Studies. From 2009 to 2011, he assumed command of the Supply Battalion at the 6th Maneuver Regiment in Pisa, with which he participated in the KFOR operation in Kosovo. In 2010, he was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel.
 
In 2011, after approximately two years of battalion command, he was assigned to the Transport and Materials Command of the Army Logistics Command as Head of the Wheeled Vehicles Section and, subsequently, Head of the Armored and Armored Tracked Vehicles Section. 
 
Promoted to the rank of Colonel, in 2017 he assumed command of the Folgore Paratrooper Logistics Regiment in Pisa. That same year, he was deployed with the Regiment in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) operation, establishing the FOLGORE Brigade's Support Group. At the end of his regimental command, Colonel Pisciotta was transferred in 2020 to the Supply and Maintenance Center in Milan as Head of the Supply Department.
 
 From 2022 to 2025, he was transferred to Florence and served as Logistics Director of the Military Geographic Institute. In 2023, he was deployed in Operation UNIFIL as Commander of the IT-NSE with the GRANATIERI DI SARDEGNA Brigade.
