Command Sgt. Maj. Shavonda C. Devereaux

CSM Shavonda C. Devereaux is a native of Dillon, SC. She enlisted in the US Army in September 2000 as a 68W, Health Care Specialist. She attended basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. CSM Devereaux has served with distinction in a myriad of leadership positions commensurate with her career field to include Operations, NCO, Division Surgeon NCO, and Battalion Command Sergeant Major.

Her assignments include Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital, Fort Johnson, LA; 168th Medical Battalion, Camp Red Cloud, Korea; Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Fort Eisenhower, GA; 501st Forward Support Battalion, Friedberg, Germany; Martin Army Community Hospital, Fort Moore, GA; United States Military Entrance Processing Command, Lansing, MI; 1st Theater Sustainment Command, Fort Knox, KY; the Sergeants Major Academy, Fort Bliss, TX; Martin Army Community Hospital, Fort Moore, GA; Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital, Fort Johnson, LA; and most currently 1st Medical Brigade, Fort Hood, TX.

CSM Devereaux’s military education includes the Basic Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course, Army Equal Opportunity Leader Course, Senior Leader Course (Leadership Award), Army Basic Instructor Training Course, Battle Staff NCO Course, SHARP Certification Course, Common Faculty Development-Instructor Course, Practice Manager Course, Battalion and Brigade Pre-Command Course, CSM Development Program, and is a graduate of the United States Sergeants Major Academy Class 70 (Commandant’s List).

Her civilian education includes a Doctorate in Public Health from Walden University, a Master of Science in Public Health (Magna Cum Laude) from Trident University, and a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Management (Cum Laude) from Trident University.

CSM Devereaux’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (3rd OLC), the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (4th OLC), the Army Achievement Medal (6th OLC), the Navy Unit Commendation Medal, the Meritorious Unit Citation, the Army Superior Unit Award, the Army Good Conduct Medal (7th award), the Iraqi Campaign Medal (2 stars), the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, the Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (with numeral 5), the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon (with numeral 3), and the Expert Field Medical Badge. She is the recipient of the Order of Military Medical Merit.

CSM Devereaux is married to SFC (Retired) Willie R. Devereaux and together they have three children, Savion (16), London (12), and Cameron (10).
