Colonel LaHavie J. Brunson
COL LaHavie J. Brunson was born the son of SGM(R) Albert and Delphine Brunson, in Fayetteville, NC. He comes from a military family with two brothers who currently serve, and a sister-in-law and a brother-in-law who all have proudly served as officers in the United States Army. As a youth, he was heavily involved in academics and sports, and achieved the Eagle Scout rank. COL Brunson is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was commissioned as a 2LT in the Quartermaster Corps in 1998.
COL Brunson served as a junior officer in the 82nd Airborne Division. Following a deployment to Afghanistan, he returned to Fort Bragg and commanded two companies in the 528th Special Operations Support Bn (A) and its Sustainment Brigade (Special Operations) (A). He completed his field grade time in the 3d ACR, with a deployment to Iraq, and then spent a year at the Naval War College. COL Brunson was next assigned to the Army Staff and served in the Office of the CSA, as the XO to the Vice Director of the Army Staff, followed by duty as the XO to the Director of Army Maintenance in the HQDA G-4. COL Brunson departed the NCR to assume command of the 725th BSB (A), 4-25 IBCT (A), JBER, AK. He was then assigned to the Joint Staff J4, where he served as the Joint Munitions Branch Chief and as the XO to the Director, Joint Staff J4. COL Brunson graduated from the Eisenhower School at the National Defense University before assuming command of the 916th Support BDE at Fort Irwin, CA. He most recently served as the XO to the Director, Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), and XO to the HQDA DCS, G-4.
COL Brunson's awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit (2nd Award), the Bronze Star Medal (2nd Award), the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (3rd Award), ARCOM (6th award), AAM (5th award), NDSM, Kosovo Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Service Medal, GWOT Expeditionary Medal, GWOT Service Medal, ASR, OSR, NATO Medal (Kosovo), and the MOVSM. COL Brunson is authorized to wear the Master Parachutist's Badge, the Pathfinder Badge, the Parachute Rigger Badge, the Canadian Parachutist's Badge, the German Parachutist's Badge, the Samuel Sharpe Award, the Order of St. Martin, the Order of Saint Christopher, and the Army and Joint Staff Identification Badges.
