311th Signal Command (Theater)
SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii -- Soldiers of the 311th Signal Command (Theater) held their annual Best Warrior Competition, here, April 3-8.
Competitors hailed from the 516th Signal Brigade on Oahu, the 1st Signal Brigade in the Republic of Korea, the 311th SC(T)’s Headquarters and Headquarters Company, and the 311’s Support Unit in Tustin, Calif.
Soldiers and noncommissioned officers competed against each other, respectively, in different events that tested their knowledge and execution of Basic Soldier Skills, professionalism, physical abilities, and resilience.
Staff Sgt. Matthew Hauffen and Spc. Andre Araiza, both of the 78th Signal Battalion, took first place for NCO and Soldier of the Year, and will represent the 311th SC(T) in the next level of the competition at Network Enterprise Technology Command.
Sgt. Gerard Garcia will represent the 311th SC(T) in the next level of the competition at U.S. Army Reserve Command.
Staff Sgt. Christopher Owens was named runner-up 311th SC(T) NCO representative for the NETCOM competition.
