This Valentine’s Day, the Exchange has everything you need to make your sweetheart swoon

SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii — The Army & Air Force Exchange Service is ready to help military shoppers share the love during February with deals on Valentine’s Day gifts that will have them singing love songs all month long.

Fresh flowers, gifts and candy will be available at Schofield Main Exchange, Schofield Express with Gas, Kolekole and Paradise Express stores for Valentine’s Day. Fresh flowers can be purchased from $5.99 to $29.99.

From Jan. 31 through Feb. 14, Petals & Blooms shoppers who use their MILITARY STAR card will receive $10 off any purchase of $65 or more.

“In February, we are all making the extra effort to express our love and appreciation for those we care about,” said Chris Holifield, Hawaii Exchange General Manager. “The Schofield Exchange is happy to provide all the Valentine’s Day necessities at exclusive military pricing.”

Exchange shoppers, including honorably discharged Veterans, can cross buying gifts off their to-do lists from home by visiting ShopMyExchange.com for all their sweetheart’s needs. Designers Choice Bouquets will be available for purchase online and shipped to addresses in the continental United States. Orders must be placed by Feb. 11 to arrive by Valentine’s Day.

New Year, new you! Schofield Exchange brings better-for-you meals, snacks to Soldiers

AAFES is helping Soldiers and military families stay BE FIT in 2020 with better-for-you meals and snacks that support readiness and resiliency.

“The Schofield Exchange is committed to promoting a BE FIT lifestyle so Soldiers can perform to their maximum potential,” said Hawaii Exchange General Manager, Chris Holifield. “By emphasizing proper nutrition with better-for-you options, the Schofield Exchange can meet the needs Soldiers and military families.”  

As a partner with the Healthy Army Community initiative, the Army & Air Force Exchange Service is committed to offering better-for-you food options in its restaurants, main stores and Expresses.

All of the Schofield Exchange’s restaurants offer better-for-you choices:

  • Burger King’s Impossible Whopper is made with a plant-based patty that has the flavor of beef, but made of soy and potato proteins. It’s high in protein with 0% cholesterol and free of animal hormones and antibiotics. (CONUS only)
  • Burger King’s beef patties are made from 100% beef with no fillers or preservatives and chicken and beef patties are free of colors and flavors from artificial sources. (OCONUS only)
  • Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen diners can choose from more than 20 items with less than 350 calories, including blackened tenders, Cajun rice and green beans.
  • Charley’s Philly Steaks offers a variety of items with 150 calories or fewer including grilled chicken, steak and garden salads.
  • Boston Market has more than 100 meal combinations containing 550 calories or fewer.
  • Starbucks features 15 lunch boxes and wraps under 500 calories and 19 breakfast items between 200 and 500 calories. Better-for-you options include such as oatmeal, fruit, yogurt, reduced-fat turkey bacon and wraps.

For on-the-go snacking, the Schofield Exchange main store and Express stores carry BE FIT-approved items, including fresh fruit, yogurt, trail mix and nuts, tuna, grass-fed meat snacks and jerky, veggie chips and bottled water. Healthier Choices, Healthier Lifestyle shelf tags make it easy to find BE FIT snacks and drinks.

The Schofield Exchange’s commitment to providing healthier choices also extends to vending machines for Soldiers needing a quick pick-me-up. Baked chips, dried fruit and trail mix are among the Schofield Exchange’s selections. These and other Schofield Exchange vending options fulfill National Automatic Merchandising Association Fit Pick requirements, containing fewer than 35% of calories from fat, fewer than 10% of calories from saturated fat and fewer than 35% total weight from sugar.

Schofield Exchange shoppers can keep some cash and eat healthy on Salad Wednesdays

Soldiers and families can enjoy their greens and save some greenbacks every Salad Wednesday at Schofield Army & Air Force Exchange Service restaurants.

On Wednesdays, diners can take $2 off any salad priced $4 or more at participating Exchange direct-operated restaurants, including:

•    Schofield Burger King
•    Boston Market
•    Charley’s Steakery

“The Exchange is all in to promote a BE FIT lifestyle focused on the health and well-being of Soldiers, retirees, military families and Veterans at Schofield,” said Exchange General Manager, Chris Holifield. “Saving money on smarter food choices can help military shoppers make their healthy lifestyle a reality.”

The Exchange is a partner in the Healthy Army Communities under the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Operation Live Well. All Exchange restaurants offer better-for-you menu choices to support Warfighters’ readiness and resiliency.

MILITARY STAR cardholders receive even greater savings on Salad Wednesdays — diners who pay with MILITARY STAR get an additional 10% discount.

Exchange restaurants are open to anyone – whether military, civil service, contractor or visitor – per Army Regulation 215-8.

MILITARY STAR accounts provide savings

“As the new year starts, a lot of military shoppers are focused on sticking to budgets,” said General Manager, Chris Holifield. “MILITARY STAR’s extra savings, everyday discounts and fair and flexible terms make it a useful tool for those looking to maximize their budgets.”

Cardholders receive two points for every dollar spent with MILITARY STAR and automatically earn a $20 rewards card every 2,000 points. In 2018, shoppers earned $34.6 million in MILITARY STAR rewards cards.

Other benefits of the MILITARY STAR card include:

  • The lowest flat-rate APR (11.74%) among store cards—rate is offered to all cardholders upon account approval.
  • No annual, late or over-limit fees.
  • Reduced-interest deployment plan with no payments required for eligible customers.

The MILITARY STAR program generated $471 million in value for cardholders in 2018 through savings, discounts, financing offers and cardholder-friendly terms and conditions.

New MILITARY STAR accountholders will receive the discount on purchases at all military exchanges and commissaries, as well as online at ShopMyExchange.com, myNavyExchange.com and ShopCGX.com. New accountholders who stay at an Armed Forces Recreation Center resort during the promotional dates and pay with their MILITARY STAR card during those dates can take advantage of the 15% discount on their entire resort stay.
