Army & Air Force Exchange Service
News Release

DALLAS – The Army & Air Force Exchange Service is helping military family members move to the head of the class this school year by extending its layaway program to include electronics essential to help students excel in the classroom.

From July 1 through Aug. 31, Exchange shoppers can use layaway to hold computers, notebooks, tablets and iPads — items that are not typically eligible for the program.

“Having the right computer or tablet can play a large role in academic success,” said Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Luis Reyes, the Exchange’s senior enlisted advisor. “The Exchange has done its homework, and the layaway program is a great choice to not only manage expenses for clothes, shoes and backpacks but computers as well.”

A $3 service fee and a deposit of 15 percent are required to hold items on layaway. Items must be picked up by Aug. 31. Shoppers can visit customer service at their Exchange for complete details.

Exchange celebrates anniversary July 25

In 1895, the War Department issued General Order 46 directing commanders to establish an exchange at every post. Now, 125 years later, the Hawaii Exchange and ShopMyExchange.com will commemorate the Army & Air Force Exchange Service’s milestone anniversary with a host of sales.

From July 24 through July 30, military shoppers can save up to $125 on select Sony cameras, iPad pro, Fitbit, Garmin and Samsung watches, Ashley furniture and select cribs, car seats and strollers. Additionally, select vacuums, sports nutrition items, Conair, Ace Goody Hair and Revlon products as well as school supplies will be 25% off.

On July 25, the Exchange’s 125th anniversary, shoppers will find 25% off all men’s Nautica, Columbia and Carhartt apparel, all women’s Lucky Brand apparel, all handbags and wallets to include Coach Michael Kors and Vera Bradley as well as all Oakley sunglasses. In the food court, all combo meals will be discounted $1.25.

“Offering these deals to our patrons is a way to thank the military family for everything they do for our country,” said Schofield Exchange General Manager, Chris Holifield. “As we have done for 125 years, we will continue to go where Soldiers and Airmen go to support them and their families wherever they are called to serve.”

Honorably discharged Veterans can take advantage of these specials online at ShopMyExchange.com, while all Veterans with service-connected disabilities can shop in-store at Exchanges worldwide.

Shoppers can win prizes on Facebook every Free Friday
Social media is a great way for military communities to stay connected during the COVID-19 pandemic. That’s why the Army & Air Force Exchange Service is inviting military shoppers at Schofield and installations worldwide to sound off on Facebook every Free Friday for the chance to win some serious prizes.

Authorized Exchange shoppers can enter each Free Friday drawing by simply replying to the question posed on the Free Friday post at facebook.com/ShopMyExchange. Past winners have received prizes such as a new GrillSmith Executive Series 5-burner gas grill, a Courtyard Creations seven-piece patio dining set, a Husqvarna riding lawnmower, an IZOD bedding and bath set, and a Serta Perfect Sleeper Queen mattress.

“Warfighters and military families are under a tremendous amount of stress right now, so we hope this year’s lineup of Free Friday drawings gives them the chance to take their minds off the uncertainty,” said Hawaii Exchange General Manager, Chris Holifield. “Exchange shoppers have won $83,611 in Free Friday prizes since we started this program, so it has definitely paid off for our lucky winners.”

Replies must be posted on the same day of the Free Friday post to be entered into the drawing. Drawings are held on the Monday after each Free Friday giveaway. Entries made by 11:59 p.m. Central (or 6:59 p.m. Hawaii) on the day of the posting will be entered into the drawing.

Honorably discharged Veterans who have verified their eligibility to shop the Exchange online can also enter the weekly drawings. Veterans can find out more on the Exchange’s community Hub page at https://bit.ly/Vets4Life.
