SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii — The Army will hold an intimate virtual Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony at the Schofield Cemetery, here, May 25, posted at 3.p.m. that day on https://www.facebook.com/usaghawaii.
Due to social distancing restrictions, an in-person audience will not be possible this year, but the ceremony will be held and the public is encouraged to view on Facebook to honor the Soldiers and members of our sister services who gave their lives in service to our country.
Col. Tom Barrett, commander, U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii, will be the speaker for this event. Commemorative wreaths will be laid to honor fallen comrades by Maj. Gen. Jamie Jarrard, commander, 25th Infantry Division and U.S. Army Hawaii; Command Sergeant Major Billy Pouliot, 25th Infantry Division and U.S. Army Hawaii; and Command Sergeant Major Michael Oliver II, U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii.
The ceremony will include Soldiers raising the flag from half-staff to full staff, a firing detail providing the National Salute and a bugler presenting honors with Taps. Prior to the ceremony, a small group from Cub Scout Pack #166 and Girl Scout Troop #066 will place small flags at each headstone.
