MWR Hawaii will host a fireworks display for the Fourth of July. Army community members will be able to view the fireworks from their cars, parked in lots surrounding the field. (No endorsement implied)
SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii (June 24, 2021) -- U.S. Army Hawaii will pay tribute to the brave men and women in the armed forces with a fireworks display, July 4, at 8:40 p.m. from Weyand Field, here.
This year there will be a fireworks display only, and there will be no entertainment, food trucks, amusement rides, etc.
The fireworks display will not be open to the public due to COVID. In years' past when there were no restrictions on large gatherings, the installation was open for the Fourth of July because the garrison could safely accommodate 100,000 people on Weyand Field.
To minimize large groups gathering, Army community members can view the fireworks from their car parked in lots surrounding the field. Many residents who live nearby will be able to view them from their yard.
Suggested viewing areas:
- Nehelani Banquet & Conference Center
- Education Center
- Bowling Center
- Commissary
- Exchange
Weyand Field is where the fireworks will be set off from and will not be available as a viewing location.
There will be road closures and modifications to gate operations.
The Richardson Pool parking lot will be closed from 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 3 until 9:30 p.m. on July 4. Vehicles left in the parking lot after 8 p.m. on July 3 will be towed.
Cadet Sheridan Road between Trimble and Kolekole will be shut down 30-45 minutes before the start of the fireworks display. Macomb and Foote Gates will be open for outbound traffic only for approximately 30 minutes following the fireworks show.
