HONOLULU -- One hundred Oahu high school seniors will swear in to a branch of the military at a 6th annual event in Honolulu.

Maj. Gen. Pete Johnson, deputy commanding general of U.S. Army Pacific Command will swear in the high school seniors as part of an "Our Community Salutes" recognition ceremony and reception, April 27.

The event starts 9:30 a.m., that Saturday, and recognizes local high school seniors who have committed to enlisting into the military after graduation. Invited guests will join the general -- including local business and community leaders, educators, and military veterans -- at a reception following the ceremony.

When: From 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Saturday, April 27, 2019.    
Where: At the Moanalua High School gymnasium.
What: The 6th Annual High School Enlistee Recognition Ceremony, hosted by the Hawaii Region chapter of Our Community Salutes.
Who: Approximately 400 people have been invited to attend the reception and official ceremony.
Why: To allow our community to express gratitude for these brave young people who have taken an oath to serve and recognize their commitment to protect their country.
