Mr. Art Young

Mr. Young assumed the role of Acting Deputy Garrison Manager at the Detroit Arsenal in December 2019. In this capacity he will help guide personnel services, public works, emergency response, security, morale, welfare and recreation as well as strategic planning for the entire installation with a workforce of more than 500 Department of the Army Civilians, Non-Appropriate Fund personnel, and contractors that serve of community of 40,000 individuals.

Since August 2018, Young has served as the Director, Directorate of Operations (DoO) when the legacy Directorate of Emergency Services (DES) and the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization, and Security (DPTMS) were consolidated.  Prior to that he had served as the Director, Emergency Services where he was charged with providing program management for installation first responders. Previous civilian assignments at the Detroit Arsenal included Chief, Public Safety Division, and Chief, Provost Marshal Division. He is a retired Military Police Officer (Major, USAR), and served on active duty for more than13 years with both enlisted and commissioned service and completed his military service in USAR assignments. 

 

He is married to Diana, they have two adult sons.
