Are we allowed to keep items in the hallway outside our apartment door?

  • Items are only allowed if they abide by the following guidelines:
    •    Floor will be kept clear. Any object that could impede egress or restrict access of emergency personnel are not allowed. Items such as strollers, bikes, shoe racks, and tables need to be kept inside your apartment or in your storage area.
    •    Wall decorations are allowed as long as they do not cover your apartment number.
    •    If an item is hung from the ceiling it must be against the wall as to not impede sprinkler operations.
    •    Permanent lighting outside your apartment will not be tampered with. Covering the lighting to change the color is not authorized.

Are we allowed to put up holiday decorations outside our apartment door?

  • Holiday decorations may be put up 4 weeks prior to a specific holiday and must be removed within 2 weeks after the holiday. All decorations must abide by the following guidelines:
    •    Floor will be kept clear. Any object that could impede egress or restrict access of emergency personnel are not allowed. Items such as tables and inflatable holiday decorations are not allowed.
    •    Wall decorations are allowed as long as they do not cover your apartment number.
    •    If an item is hung from the ceiling it must be against the wall as to not impede sprinkler operations.
    •    Lighting outside your apartment will not be tampered with. Covering the lighting to change the color is not authorized.
    •    Use of webbing or netting is not authorized. (For example: fake cobwebs or snow, these items are not flame resistant.)
    •    Holiday string lights are authorized but must meet the following requirements: all lights must be UL or FM listed (keep in mind that a lot of locally purchased lights will not meet this requirement), no more than 3 strings connected together per electrical outlet, holiday lights must be turned off when you leave your home.

Can exceptions be granted to allow floor decorations outside your apartment?

  • An exception may be granted to allow floor decorations for a special event only. The exception must be requested through your Tower Mayor and approved by Housing, Safety and the Fire Department prior to the event and will designate a specific date and timeframe. Exceptions will not be granted for an overnight timeframe.

My smoke detector goes off every time I cook. Is there anything that can be done about this?

  • Make sure you turn on your vent prior to cooking, waiting to turn the vent on until it starts smoking will increase the chance of the detector going off. Open doors and use a fan if you are cooking/frying something that you know will produce a lot of smoke. NEVER cover or disconnect your smoke detector, this is considered destruction of government property.

Are we allowed to grill on our balconies?

  • Charcoal grills and other open flame cooking devices are not allowed to be used on balconies. See the Tower Community Map for the location of available grilling stations.

What are quiet hours at the Army Family Housing Towers? What should I do if someone is not following this policy?

  • Per the USAG-Daegu Resident’s Guide, quiet hours are from 2200-0700 hours Sunday through Thursday; and from 2300-0700 hours on Fridays, Saturdays, and the evening prior to holidays.  If a neighbor is not following policy, you are encouraged resolve the issue at the lowest level.  You can also reach out to your Tower Housing Mayors to address the concern.  In extreme situations, you can contact the non-emergency Police line (see important numbers on this page).
