Lt. Col. Daniel Gonzalez, Battalion Commander
759th Military Police Battalion
Lt. Col. Daniel Gonzalez is a native of Cortlandt Manor, New York. He commissioned in the U.S. Army in May 2006 as a military police officer from the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York.
He began service at Fort Bliss, Texas, where he trained and deployed with 1st Platoon, 978th Military Police Company, to Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 93rd MP Battalion.
Shortly after taking command, Gonzalez was promoted to captain. Redeploying to Fort Bliss in March 2010, he was then assigned to Fort Drum, New York, and deployed to meet the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division in Baghlan Province, Afghanistan, in January 2011. Returning in March of 2011, Gonzalez continued to serve as the 1st BCT provost marshal and went on to be the brigade rear-provisional S3 until he took command of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Brigade Special Troops Battalion. Promoted to major in 2017, he became the 89th MP Brigade’s S3 and then its executive officer in 2018. While serving as the XO, the 89th received a no-notice deployment to the U.S. southwest border in support of the Department of Homeland Security’s Border Patrol. In 2019, he joined the Current Operations Division of the Futures and Concepts Center, Army Futures Command at Fort Eustis, Virginia. His last assignment was with Human Resources Command’s MP Branch field grade officer talent manager at Fort Knox, Kentucky.
Gonzalez is a graduate of the MP Officer Basic Course, Special Reaction Team Phase I, Captains Career Course and the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College. His civilian education includes a Bachelor of Science from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in New York, Master of Arts from Webster University in Missouri and Master of Arts from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs in New York City.
His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal, Iraqi and Afghanistan campaign medals, Overseas Service Ribbon with oak leaf cluster, NATO Service Medal and Air Assault Badge.
Gonzalez is married and has four children.
